It comes from the same SOCOM family that won the US Special Operations Command suppressor trials, just trimmed down to 6.4 inches and 17 ounces, making it the smallest and lightest 7.62mm option SureFire builds. Since it slips over your muzzle device, it only adds about 3.8 inches to the end of your rifle, which keeps a 16 inch .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor feeling like a rifle instead of a pole vault.
Construction is where SureFire earns its reputation. The MINI2 uses high-temperature Inconel alloy and stainless steel, CNC laser-welded and rated for full-auto fire. An integrated blast shield in the rear section takes the brunt of muzzle blast, and the internal venting is designed to cut back pressure, gas blowback, and cyclic rate on gas guns. That means less gas in your face and a rifle that runs cleaner and cooler over long sessions. SureFire's Total Signature Reduction technology also nearly eliminates first-round flash and knocks down dust signature, which matters more than people realize when shooting prone.
The MINI2 mounts to SureFire's Fast-Attach muzzle devices, including their flash hiders, WARCOMP hybrids, and muzzle brakes, so you can move one can between several rifles without tools. Every unit is test-fired at the factory to verify sub-1 MOA group size and point of impact shift, and that consistency is the reason so many precision and duty rifles wear SureFire cans. Just remember the muzzle adapter is sold separately, so grab the right one for your thread pitch when you order.

The adapter is sold separately, so match it to your barrel's thread pitch. Once your rifles wear the adapters, swapping the can between them takes seconds and no tools.
It is a .30 caliber can rated for 7.62 NATO/.308 Win on barrels 16 inches or longer, and it works great on 300 Blackout and 7.62×39 platforms as well. It also covers smaller-bore cartridges like 5.56 in a pinch since the bore is oversized for them. It is full-auto rated, so hard use is not a concern.
The MINI2 runs about 2 inches shorter and a few ounces lighter than the RC2, which makes a real difference in balance and handling on shorter rifles. You trade a bit of raw sound suppression for that compactness, but you keep the same Inconel and stainless construction, Fast-Attach mounting, and full-auto rating. For a do-it-all rifle, most people find the size savings worth it.
Very little, and more importantly, the shift is repeatable. SureFire test-fires every SOCOM762-MINI2 to verify sub-1 MOA group size and point of impact shift before it leaves the factory. That means you can take the can off, put it back on, and trust your zero stays predictable.
