The Streamlight TLR-4 is one of the smaller light-and-laser combos out there, which is the whole point. It was built for sub-compact and compact pistols where a full-size weapon light would look and feel oversized, though it also clamps onto most full-size handguns with an accessory rail. You get a 170-lumen C4 LED throwing a clean 3,300-candela beam out to about 115 meters, plus a 640-660nm red aiming laser, all in a unit that weighs just 2.81 ounces with the battery and measures 2.73 inches long.
The three-position mode selector is the heart of this thing. Flip it to run the white LED by itself, the red laser by itself, or both together, so you can set it up the way you like for the situation. The ambidextrous rocker switch handles momentary and steady-on, which means lefties and righties both get an easy reach without shifting their grip. The laser sits in a brass bushing with windage and elevation adjustment screws, so once you zero it, it holds that zero through recoil and daily carry.
Streamlight went with a rail grip clamp instead of a slide-on bar, and it makes a real difference. You snap the light onto the side of the rail and tighten it down with one hand, so your fingers never cross the muzzle while you attach or remove it. Durability is where Streamlight usually earns its keep, and the TLR-4 fits the pattern. The body is impact-resistant engineering polymer with an anodized aluminum facecap, the C4 LED is rated for a 50,000-hour lifetime, and the whole unit carries an IPX4 water-resistance rating. It runs in temperatures from -20°F all the way up to +120°F, and the single CR2 lithium battery gives you 1.5 hours in light or combo mode and up to 15 hours on laser only. Streamlight backs it with their limited lifetime warranty.
