Anybody who has ever chased a runaway detent spring across the garage knows the standard AR-15 takedown and pivot pins can be a pain. Strike Industries fixed the annoying part. These extended pins give the heads a larger, thicker grip surface so you can push them out and back in with your fingers, no bench block or pin punch required. If you run multiple uppers off one lower or just field strip often, that little bit of extra purchase adds up fast.
These are machined from steel with a matte black finish, so they hold up to real use and shrug off the elements. They drop into most standard AR-15/M16/M4 forged lowers and plenty of billet receivers as a direct replacement for your factory pins. The set keeps a clean, logo-free profile that looks sharp closed and gives you a firm surface to grab when it is time to break the rifle down. A lot of folks mention the fit runs slightly snugger than mil-spec stock pins, which can make the receivers feel a touch more solid.

These pins play nice with the vast majority of forged and billet lowers out there, but a few billet designs can be picky. They are not a fit for AREA53 Mod 0 receivers, and because of the compact geometry of PDW-style stocks and braces, extended pins like these may bind against the slide rods. If you are running a standard carbine, rifle, or pistol setup, you should be good to go. Keep a clean workspace when you install them so that detent does not go flying.

They use the standard .250 diameter and drop into most forged AR-15/M16/M4 lowers along with many billet receivers. A few billet designs are the exception, including AREA53 Mod 0 receivers. If your lower is spec'd to the usual dimensions, these should fit right in.
It is best to skip extended pins on PDW-style setups. Because of the compact geometry of PDW stocks and stabilizers, extended pins can bind against or fail to clear the slide rods. For standard carbine, rifle, or pistol configurations they work great.
Both. The black steel finish gives a clean, logo-free upgrade to your lower, but the bigger benefit is function. The extended heads speed up takedowns and make swapping uppers off a single lower much easier, which is a real time-saver if you maintain or reconfigure your rifle often.
