The Stinger Fireball in .380 ACP weighs just 14.4 ounces, and at 5.5 inches long with a slim profile, it disappears into a pocket holster or waistband about as well as anything on the market. The black hard coat anodized frame against the matte stainless 3 inch barrel gives it a sharp two tone look that stands apart from the rest of the Bond lineup.
Weight is usually the first complaint people have about carrying a backup or deep concealment gun, and this is where the Fireball earns its keep. The aluminum frame trims real ounces without changing the dimensions or the function you get from Bond's stainless framed models. The extended B6 resin grips are a smart pairing here too. They give your pinky somewhere to go and soak up more recoil than the shorter grips, which matters when you are launching .380 out of a gun this light. Fixed sights, a spring loaded locking lever on the left side, and a clean break action keep the whole package simple and snag free on the draw.
Everything about running this gun is deliberate. It is a single action design with a rebounding hammer, retracting firing pins, and a push button cross-bolt safety, so nothing happens until you cock the hammer and press the trigger. The 7 pound trigger pull is on purpose for a defensive pistol of this style. Loading is as easy as popping the action open, dropping in two rounds, and snapping it shut. And true to Bond Arms form, the receiver accepts other Bond Arms barrels, so you can swap calibers down the road without buying a whole new gun. Just note it does not take the original hand cannon, Cyclops, or Stinger RS barrels.
For a trail gun, a backup, or a primary for someone who values simplicity over capacity, the Stinger Fireball is a well made little pistol that does exactly what it promises.
The biggest differences are the frame material and grips. The Fireball uses a 7075 anodized aluminum frame milled from billet, keeping weight down to 14.4 ounces, and it comes fitted with Bond's extended B6 resin grips instead of the shorter rubber grips. The dimensions and break action operation are otherwise the same as the rest of the Stinger family.
Yes, barrel interchangeability is a big part of the appeal. The Fireball receiver accepts other Bond Arms barrels, so you can pick up accessory barrels in different calibers and change them out with basic tools. The exceptions are the original hand cannon, Cyclops, and Stinger RS barrels, which are not compatible with this frame.
It has some pop, no way around that in a 14.4 ounce pistol, but the extended B6 resin grips do a good job spreading the recoil across your hand and giving you a full grip. Standard pressure ball ammo tends to be the softest shooting option for practice, while hotter defensive hollow points will feel snappier. Most folks find it very manageable for the short strings this gun is designed for.
