Description

Bond Arms has been building derringers in Granbury, Texas since the mid 90s, and the Stinger Fireball is where all that experience lands when the goal is cutting weight without cutting corners. The frame is milled from 7075 aluminum billet and finished in black hard coat anodizing, which brings this .38 Special two-shooter down to around 14.4 ounces. Pair that with a slim profile a touch over half an inch wide and an overall length of just 5.5 inches, and you have a gun that disappears in a pocket holster or rides all day inside the waistband without you noticing it.

Why the Stinger Fireball Carries So Well

The matte stainless 3 inch double barrels break open with a low-profile lever on the left side, and a manual ejector kicks out spent brass so reloads stay simple. Even with the aluminum frame, Bond kept stainless steel in the parts that take the abuse: the trigger, release lever, cross-bolt safety, rebounding hammer, and retracting firing pins. The single action hammer alternates between firing pins, and the fixed blade front and notch rear sights are about as snag-free as it gets. Safety-wise you get the push-button cross bolt, the rebounding hammer, and a release lever lock working together.

Grips That Change the Whole Experience

The extended B6 resin grips are the real story here. Diamond texturing, a hand-filling palm swell, and a pinky cut let you get all three fingers on the gun, and the backstrap shape will feel familiar if you have spent time behind a J-frame. On a lightweight .38, that extra purchase matters, and it makes the Fireball far more pleasant to run than the stubby bird's-head derringers of old.

One Fireball Frame, Multiple Calibers

Like most Bond Arms guns, the barrels swap easily. The Fireball receiver accepts other Stinger series barrels in .380 ACP, 9mm, and more, so one frame can wear several calibers depending on your mood or your ammo shelf. Just note it does not take Stinger RS, Cyclops, or original big-frame barrels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I swap barrels on the Bond Arms Stinger Fireball?

Yes, and that is one of the best parts of owning a Bond Arms. The Fireball frame accepts other Stinger series accessory barrels, so you can run .380 ACP, 9mm, and other Stinger chamberings on the same gun. Keep in mind it is not compatible with Stinger RS, Cyclops, or the original large-frame Bond barrels.

How does the Stinger Fireball differ from the standard Stinger and Stinger RS?

The Fireball uses a black anodized 7075 aluminum frame that trims weight down to about 14.4 ounces, noticeably lighter than the all-stainless Stinger RS. It also comes standard with the extended B6 resin grips instead of the older slim panels. Dimensions and function are otherwise the same as its Stinger siblings.

Is a .38 Special derringer this light rough to shoot?

It has some pep, no question, but the extended B6 grip makes a big difference. The palm swell and pinky cut let you get a full three-finger hold, which tames the muzzle flip far better than the old bird's-head style grips. For a deep-carry gun you will shoot enough to stay proficient, it is very manageable.

What safety features does the Stinger Fireball have?

You get a push-button cross-bolt safety, a patented rebounding hammer that pulls away from the firing pins after each shot, and a locking release lever. The firing pins also retract, adding another layer of protection. It is a simple gun mechanically, which is a big part of why these derringers have such a solid reliability reputation.
