The Rowdy XL is what happened when Bond Arms listened to folks who loved the original Rowdy but wanted a little more to hold onto. The half inch of extra barrel over the standard Rowdy gives you a better sight radius and a touch more velocity, while the extended B6 resin grips with a smooth backstrap fill the hand and spread recoil across your palm instead of concentrating it in one spot. The result is a big-bore derringer that shoots noticeably softer than its size suggests, and with the 3 inch chambers you can run 2.5 inch or 3 inch .410 shells alongside .45 Colt loads.
This is part of Bond's Rough Series, which means the same stainless steel frame and barrel as their premium models with a bead blasted matte finish instead of hours of hand polishing. Nothing about the internals changed. You still get the patented rebounding hammer, retracting firing pins, a crossbolt safety for confident carry, and a spring-loaded cammed locking lever. An automatic spent casing extractor kicks empties clear when you break it open, so reloads stay quick. At 22 ounces and under 6 inches long, it rides easy in a pocket holster, on the belt, or in a truck console.

The Rowdy XL accepts standard Bond Arms barrels, so down the road you can swap to .357 Magnum, 9mm, .38 Special, and plenty of other chamberings with just a hex wrench. Yes. The Rowdy XL has 3 inch chambers, so it runs both 2.5 inch and 3 inch .410 shotshells in addition to .45 Colt. Defensive .410 loads like buckshot and disc-style rounds are popular choices, and .45 Colt gives you a solid single projectile option out of the same barrels.
Two main upgrades: a 3.5 inch barrel instead of 3 inches, and extended B6 resin grips with a smooth backstrap. The longer barrel improves accuracy and adds a bit of weight up front, while the bigger grips fill the hand and distribute recoil much better. Together they make the XL noticeably more comfortable to shoot, especially with hotter .410 loads.
You can. The Rowdy XL is compatible with standard Bond Arms interchangeable barrels, so calibers like .357 Magnum/.38 Special and 9mm are a quick swap away. The only exceptions are barrels from the Stinger and Cyclops lines, which use different frames.
