The XD-S Mod.2 is already one of the slimmest single-stack 9mms out there, and this 8-round extended magazine is purpose-built to match it. Straight from Springfield Armory, this is the same OEM magazine that ships with the gun itself, made to the exact same specs and tolerances. No aftermarket guesswork, no fitment issues.
The body is stainless steel with reinforced steel feed lips, which means it holds up under regular use without battering out over time like some polymer-body alternatives can. Inside, a stainless steel spring and anti-tilt polymer follower work together to keep rounds feeding cleanly round after round. Numbered witness holes on both sides let you do a quick round count without having to drop the mag.
The Grip X-Tension sleeve is one of those features that seems small until you actually shoot with it. The black polymer sleeve contours to the frame of the pistol and gives you a full-hand grip, which makes a real difference for recoil control on a slim single-stack. That extra contact point helps especially for smaller-framed shooters or anyone who found the flush 7-round mag leaving their pinky hanging.
This magazine is designed specifically for the XD-S Mod.2 platform and is not interchangeable with the original XD-S. If you have an older XD-S, Springfield makes a separate 8-round version for that model. Worth double-checking before you order if you're not sure which generation you have.

The magazine extends slightly past the grip compared to the flush-fit 7-round version, but it's a modest difference. The included Grip X-Tension sleeve fills the gap smoothly and actually improves your grip, so most people find it a worthwhile trade-off for carry. It does not significantly affect concealability for most holsters.
This is a genuine factory magazine made by Springfield Armory to the same specifications and materials as the magazines that come standard with the pistol. That means proper lockup, correct feed geometry, and consistent performance without any modification needed.
Springfield also offers a 9-round Mod.2 magazine that uses a longer extension sleeve to gain the extra round. The 8-round version is a bit more compact while still giving you one round over the standard 7-rounder. Which one is right for you comes down to how you balance capacity versus grip length for carry.
New factory magazines often have stiffer springs straight out of the package, which is completely normal. It's a good idea to load them to full capacity and let them sit for a day or two before relying on them, and running a few range sessions with them helps confirm reliable feeding before you stake your carry on them.
