The TRP has been Springfield Armory's flagship 1911 since the late 1990s, when the FBI Hostage Rescue Team picked the Springfield Professional and the company set out to bring that pistol's feature set to the rest of us. For years it only came in .45 ACP. This model changes that. Chambered in 9mm with a 5 inch match-grade stainless barrel, it gives you softer recoil, cheaper range days, and the same hand-selected, forged slide-to-frame fit the TRP line is known for.
The AOS cut, developed with Agency Arms, uses interchangeable plates with an integrated rear sight to fit most popular red dot footprints, including RMR, Shield RMSc, DeltaPoint Pro, and Docter patterns. Because the optic sits low in the slide, the dot is easier to track through recoil and you can co-witness the irons with most sights. Prefer to run it without glass? The included cover plate carries a serrated black rear sight that pairs with the tritium front for a clean, glare-free sight picture day or night.
The VZ Grips Hydra G10 panels and 20 LPI frontstrap checkering lock the gun into your hand without chewing it up, and the scoop cut near the mag release makes reloads quicker without shifting your grip. The Gen2 Speed Trigger breaks crisp in the neighborhood of four and a half to five pounds with a short reset, and the ambidextrous thumb safety snaps on and off with real positive feedback. A forged-in Picatinny rail handles full-size weapon lights, the two-piece magwell funnels reloads home, and top slide serrations cut glare on the sighting plane. Everything wears a durable black Cerakote finish.

The Agency Optic System uses swappable mounting plates that cover most popular footprints, including Trijicon RMR and SRO, Shield RMSc, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and Docter patterns. Each plate has an integrated rear sight, and most optics will co-witness with the tritium front sight. The pistol ships with a cover plate installed, so plan on picking up the AOS plate that matches your optic.

This was the first time Springfield offered the TRP in 9mm, and it gets the identical treatment: forged slide and frame hand-selected for fit, match-grade stainless barrel, Gen2 Speed Trigger, and VZ Hydra G10 grips. The 9mm chambering just adds lighter recoil and more affordable practice ammo to the mix.
You can. The Picatinny rail is forged into the steel frame and is long enough for full-size lights like the SureFire X300, and it handles compact options like the Streamlight TLR-7 just as well. That makes this a legitimate choice for nightstand or duty use, not just range work.
It ships with three 9-round single-stack magazines. This is a traditional single-stack 1911 frame, so aftermarket 9mm 1911 mags in 9 and 10-round capacities from quality makers will run in it. It is not compatible with double-stack 2011-style magazines.
