The Spikes Tactical STU5025R9S comes from the company's ST-15 LE line, an upper series originally spec'd out for law enforcement duty use and now available to anyone building or refreshing an AR-15. It ships fully assembled, inspected, and function tested, so it drops onto a standard mil-spec lower and it's ready to shoot. The heart of it is a 16-inch chrome-moly barrel with a 1:7 twist rate and a black phosphate finish, chambered in 5.56 NATO so it happily runs both 5.56 and .223 Remington. That fast twist handles heavier match and defensive loads without issue, which is a big reason this build works so well as a do-it-all carbine.
The receiver is a forged 7075-T6 flat-top with M4 feed ramps, T-marked Picatinny rail, and a Type III hardcoat anodized finish, which is exactly the kind of foundation you want for reliable feeding and easy optic mounting. Spike's tops it off with a low-profile gas block and an A2 flash hider on a 1/2-28 threaded muzzle, leaving the door open for whatever muzzle device or can you want to add later. The included M16-profile bolt carrier group is the same mil-spec unit Spike's runs on their factory rifles, so you're not getting a stripped-down parts-bin BCG.
One of the standout pieces here is the 9-inch BAR2 free-float quad rail. It's a one-piece design machined to shed weight where it doesn't need material, with Picatinny at all four clock positions, six QD sling sockets, and a roomy inner diameter that clears most suppressors for a recessed setup. The rails are scalloped and deburred so they're comfortable in the hand, and it ships with Ergo ladder covers. It installs on the 7075-T6 BAR-type barrel nut using standard 3-pin barrel nut wrenches, no proprietary tools required.
