Reactive targets are hands down more fun than punching holes in paper, and the SME SMEBBC dueling ball target delivers that satisfying movement without wearing out after a couple range trips. Two 4-inch balls made from self-healing polymer bounce and swing on impact, so every hit sends them into unpredictable motion. That means you have to reacquire and readjust for each shot, which is exactly the kind of practice that sharpens your aim while keeping things entertaining.
The big selling point here is the self-healing material, which is built to shrug off thousands of rounds across all calibers, from .22 rimfire all the way up to bigger stuff. Instead of shredding like a can or a milk jug, the polymer closes back up around the bullet path and keeps its shape session after session. The dual green and yellow coloring isn't just for looks either, it makes the balls easy to spot downrange and gives you a clear way to keep score when two people are shooting head to head.
There's zero assembly involved. You can literally throw the balls on the ground and start shooting, or use the heavy-duty rope and chain to hang them from a tree branch or a target stand for that swinging, back-and-forth action. The connected design keeps both balls together so they react off each other when hit, and packing up at the end of the day is just as quick.
Whether you're running a rifle, pistol, or shotgun, these hold up. New shooters love the instant feedback of a target that moves when they connect, and experienced folks use dueling balls for follow-up drills, target transitions, and a little friendly competition. It's a simple, rugged piece of gear that earns a permanent spot in the range bag.
They're rated for all calibers, roughly .22 up through .50. The self-healing polymer handles rifle, pistol, and shotgun rounds, so you can bring just about anything in the safe. Keep in mind that faster, small-diameter bullets sometimes zip right through with less movement than a slower, heavier projectile.
Yes. The polymer is designed to close around the bullet path instead of tearing apart, which is what lets it stand up to thousands of rounds. You'll see impact marks over time, but the balls hold their shape and keep reacting session after session.
There's no assembly required. You can toss the connected balls right on the ground and start shooting, or use the included rope and chain to hang them from a tree limb or target stand for swinging action. Hanging them gives you the most movement and reactivity.
The green and yellow coloring makes the balls easy to see downrange against most backgrounds. It also works great for head-to-head games, since each shooter can call a color and track their own hits. That dual-color setup is a big part of what makes these fun for competition.
