The Sig Sauer P238 has always been one of those guns that earns fans fast. Put it in someone's hand for the first time and they get it immediately. It points like a full-size pistol, the trigger breaks clean, and the whole package weighs just about a pound loaded. The Emperor Scorpion takes that already strong foundation and dresses it up in a purpose-built carry configuration that's hard to argue with.
This version runs a Flat Dark Earth hardcoat anodized alloy frame paired with an FDE Nitron-finished stainless steel slide. Both surfaces resist corrosion and hold up well against the daily grind of carry use. The frame uses a beavertail-style design that gives you better control and a more natural grip angle, another nod to the 1911 DNA. Controls are right where 1911 shooters expect them: thumb safety, magazine release, slide stop. The difference here is the ambidextrous thumb safety, which makes the Emperor Scorpion comfortable for lefties and righties alike. Importantly, the safety doesn't lock the slide like on a traditional 1911, so you can still rack and unload the pistol with the safety engaged.
The Hogue G10 Piranha grip panels are worth calling out. They bite in just enough to give you a confident hold without being abrasive against skin during all-day carry. SIGLITE night sights come standard, with tritium that lights up in the dark for fast target acquisition when the lights go out. The sight radius is 3.8 inches, solid for a pistol this size, and the single-action trigger has a pull weight in the 7.5 to 8.5 pound range with a short, crisp reset. People who shoot these are often surprised at how accurately a 2.7-inch barrel can perform.
Two magazines are included: a flush 6-rounder that keeps the grip profile slim, and a 7-round mag with a pinky extension for a fuller grip when you want it. That flexibility is a nice touch for a gun that gets carried in so many different ways.
It's one of the better options out there for pocket carry in the all-metal category. At 5.5 inches long and just over a pound loaded, it fits comfortably in a front pocket with a proper holster. The flush 6-round magazine keeps the grip profile slim and snag-free, which makes a real difference when drawing from a pocket.
The SAO trigger is one of the standout qualities of the P238 platform.
