Big-bore fans have plenty of reasons to like this one. The Sig Sauer P320 Compact in .45 ACP takes the platform that won the U.S. military's handgun contract and pairs it with the caliber that has been putting holes exactly where people aim them for over a century. The 3.9 inch barrel and compact slide keep the overall package at 7.2 inches long and around 25.8 ounces, so it rides well in a holster without giving up the sight radius you want for real accuracy.
The heart of this pistol is the serialized stainless steel fire control unit, which means the frame you see is really just a grip module. Hands run small or large? Swap the module. Want a different size or even a different caliber later? The FCU moves with you. The striker-fired trigger is pretensioned for a clean, consistent pull with a short, positive reset, and there is no external safety lever to fumble under stress. Sig also made it lefty friendly with an ambidextrous slide stop and a reversible magazine release.
The stainless steel slide wears Sig's Nitron finish, a hard, corrosion-resistant coating that shrugs off holster wear and sweat. Up top, SIGLITE tritium night sights glow on their own in low light, which matters because most defensive situations do not happen at high noon. Down below, the full M1913 Picatinny rail accepts a weapon light or laser without any adapters.
You get two 9-round steel magazines in the box for a 9+1 total of .45 ACP on tap, which is solid capacity for the caliber in a compact frame. Takedown is simple and requires no tools and no trigger pull, so cleaning day is quick and worry free. Whether this ends up as your nightstand gun, range companion, or carry piece, it is a proven design chambered in a proven cartridge.
No, this model does not have an external thumb safety. Instead it relies on internal safeties, including a striker safety and disconnect safety, plus a takedown system that will not let you disassemble the pistol without removing the magazine and locking the slide back. It also disassembles without pulling the trigger, which is a nice touch.
Yes, that is one of the biggest draws of the P320 platform. The serialized part is the internal fire control unit, so the polymer grip module can be swapped out for small, medium, or large versions to fit your hand. This one ships with the medium grip module installed.
Yes, it comes from the factory with SIGLITE tritium night sights front and rear. They glow on their own in the dark with no batteries or charging needed, and they work like standard three-dot sights in daylight.
It will. The grip module has a full M1913 Picatinny rail molded in, so common pistol lights and lasers mount right up without adapters. Just double check holster compatibility once you pick a light, since light-bearing holsters are fit to specific combinations.
