The MK25 uses a decocking lever on the left side of the frame that safely drops the hammer, and the long, roughly 10-pound double action first trigger pull serves as the safety mechanism. After the first shot the pistol runs in a much lighter single action mode until you decock it again.
The core pistol is the same, but the MK25 adds a chrome-lined barrel, phosphate-coated internals and controls for extra corrosion resistance, and a true M1913 Picatinny rail instead of Sig's proprietary rail. It also wears the anchor slide engraving and UID frame marking. Unlike other P226 variants, the MK25 is offered only in 9mm, just like the military version.
