The MPX has been a fixture in the pistol caliber carbine world for years, and this PCC version is the one SIG built for people who want to show up to a match with nothing left to upgrade. The headline feature is the trigger. SIG teamed up with Timney to develop a flat-faced single-stage trigger specifically for the MPX, and it makes a real difference when you are trying to run fast splits on steel. Add the three-chamber compensator on the 16-inch carbon steel barrel and muzzle rise is about as tame as 9mm gets.
Unlike most 9mm carbines that rely on a heavy blowback bolt, the MPX uses a short-stroke gas piston system firing from a closed bolt. The practical upside is softer recoil, a cleaner action, and reliability that has made this platform a top pick in USPSA PCC division, including with champions like Lena Miculek. The slim free-floating M-LOK handguard gives it a familiar AR-style feel in the hand, and the controls will feel like home if you have spent any time behind an AR. Better yet, the safety, charging handle, bolt release, and mag release are all fully ambidextrous, so lefties are not an afterthought here.
The 5-position telescoping stock also folds to the side, which shrinks the 35.25-inch overall length down for easier transport in a range bag or case. The barrel is threaded M13.5×1 under that compensator if you ever want to run something different, and the full-length Picatinny top rail is ready for the red dot of your choice since it ships without sights.
SIG includes one 35-round polymer magazine, so you are set for long stages or extended range sessions right away. Cheap, plentiful 9mm ammo means you can practice a lot without wincing at the ammo bill, which is half the appeal of a good PCC in the first place. Yes. The 16-inch carbon steel barrel is threaded M13.5×1 under the factory compensator, so you can run a different device that matches that thread pitch. Just keep in mind the metric threading is less common than 1/2×28, so check compatibility before buying.
