The CR920X is what happens when Shadow Systems looked at the slim-slide subcompact category and decided it could do better. The concept is straightforward: keep the slim, concealable slide profile of the CR920, but pair it with a longer grip frame that gives you full backstrap contact and bumps capacity up to a flush-fit 15+1. The result is a pistol that carries like a micro-compact but shoots noticeably better, because your whole hand is actually on the gun.
The SS-5011 specifically comes with the Elite slide, which means you get directional serrations on the front, rear, and top of the slide, plus a weight-reducing window cut and Shadow Systems' patented multi-footprint optic cut machined directly into the slide. That optic cut supports direct-to-slide mounting for common micro red dots including the Shield RMSc and Holosun 507K footprint, so there's no adapter plate adding height to your setup. A steel filler plate is installed from the factory, and green tritium night sights come standard so you're covered out of the box even if you never add a dot.
The 3.41" barrel on this model is match-grade 416R stainless steel with a 1-in-10" twist rate and spiral fluting, finished in a bronze TiCN coating. That bronze color isn't just aesthetic – TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) is a hard physical vapor deposition finish that adds surface hardness. Combined with the spiral fluting, it's one of the more distinctive barrels you'll find on a carry gun in this size class.
The polymer frame includes an extended, upswept beavertail, a trigger guard undercut, and wrap-around aggressive texturing that keeps the pistol seated even with sweaty hands. Three interchangeable backstraps let you dial in the fit for your hand size. The frame also has an integrated Picatinny-style rail that accepts compact weapon lights. For holster compatibility, any holster cut for the Glock 43X MOS or 48 MOS will fit the CR920X. The flat-face aluminum trigger breaks at 4.5 to 5 pounds with a crisp, tactile reset, and a stainless steel guide rod is standard. Two flush-fit 15-round magazines and a range bag are included in the box.
Shadow Systems recommends holsters designed for the Glock 43X MOS or 48 MOS, and most major holster makers cut their CR920-compatible options around that fitment. If you're running an optic on the CR920X Elite, make sure to spec a holster with an optic cut as well. Brands like Concealment Express, Vedder, and Tier 1 Concealed offer solid IWB options in this fitment.
The Elite slide uses Shadow Systems' patented multi-footprint optic cut that supports direct-to-slide mounting for optics on the Shield RMSc and Holosun 507K footprint, including options like the Holosun 407K, 507K, and EPS Carry. The pistol ships with a steel filler plate installed if you want to run irons only. Note that the Trijicon RMRcc does not fit due to screw placement differences.
The flat-face aluminum trigger is set from the factory at 4.5 to 5 pounds with a crisp, tactile reset. It's a drop-safe design, and many people find the flat-face profile gives it a more consistent feel across the trigger face compared to a curved trigger, which can help with accuracy.
The 15-round CR920X magazines are proprietary to Shadow Systems, but they do cross-function with the smaller CR920 pistol, giving you some cross-platform flexibility within the CR920 lineup. They are not compatible with Glock magazines. The magazines feature steel-body construction with a nickel-Teflon interior finish for reliable feeding.
The 'X' refers to the hybrid configuration: the CR920X uses a CR920-length slide and barrel mated to a longer grip frame. That grip length gives you full palm contact on the backstrap and allows a flush-fit 15-round magazine instead of the CR920's 13-round extended or 10-round flush configuration. The slide profile stays slim for concealment, but the grip gives you significantly better purchase on the gun.
The integrated Picatinny-style rail on the CR920X Elite is sized for compact weapon lights. Shadow Systems has specifically tested the Streamlight TLR-7 Sub and the SureFire XSC. Full-size duty lights are generally too large for the compact rail on this frame, so stick with lights designed for subcompact pistols for the best fit and balance.
