The factory grip module on a Taurus GX4 Carry does its job, but it's polymer, and polymer flexes and wears over time in ways that aluminum just doesn't. Sharps Bros built this module from solid billet 7075-T6 aluminum, the same grade of material you'd find in aerospace parts, then anodized it black to match the rest of the gun. It's a direct drop-in replacement, meaning your slide, barrel, and internals bolt right up without any modification.
The biggest functional upgrade here is the trigger guard. Sharps Bros reshaped it with an undercut that lets your support hand ride higher and closer to the bore axis, which cuts down on muzzle flip and makes recoil feel more manageable shot after shot. Add in the finger grooves along the front strap and you get a grip that locks your hand into the same position every time you draw, which matters a lot for a carry gun you might only shoot a few times a year but need to run right when it counts.
This module also picks up a flared magazine well, so reloads go in smoother even when you're not looking at the gun, plus a 3-slot M1913 Picatinny rail up front if you ever want to mount a light on your carry setup. The magazine release comes pre-installed, so there's less fiddling once the module arrives. Everything is machined rather than molded, so tolerances are tight and the fit feels noticeably more solid than the stock polymer piece.
The black anodized finish isn't just for looks either. Anodizing hardens the surface of the aluminum, so it holds up against holster wear, sweat, and the general abuse that comes with daily carry a lot better than a painted or coated finish would. Since this is a precision part replacing a factory component tied into your trigger mechanism and slide stop, having it installed by someone who's done it before is the smart move if you're not already comfortable with pistol disassembly.
This particular module is built specifically for the Taurus GX4 Carry frame dimensions. Sharps Bros makes a separate version for the standard GX4, so it's worth double checking which model you own before ordering since the two aren't interchangeable.
It's a direct replacement for the factory polymer module and doesn't require permanent modifications to your pistol. That said, since it involves working around your trigger mechanism and internals, having a gunsmith handle the swap is a good idea if you haven't detail stripped a striker-fired pistol before.
The magazine release ships pre-installed on this grip module, so you won't need to pull the one off your factory frame and swap it over. That saves a step during installation.
Aluminum holds its shape under heat, holster wear, and years of carry in a way polymer eventually won't, and the added weight can help settle recoil slightly.
