The Sharps Bros Heatseeker SBC08 gives your Ruger Precision Rimfire a serious upgrade over the factory polymer stock. It swaps a flexy stock for a rigid, machined foundation that plays nicely with bipods, slings, and every other accessory you want to hang off it. The whole package tips the scales at just 1 pound 1 ounce, so you get the benefits of a chassis without turning your plinker into a boat anchor.
The chassis body is cut from a solid block of high-strength 6061-T6 aluminum, and it pairs with a 14-inch handguard shaped from an extrusion that's unique to Sharps Bros. Both pieces wear a matte black Cerakote finish that holds up well against wear and the elements. The handguard runs M-LOK slots on all four sides, giving you plenty of real estate for a light, bipod, night vision, an ARCA rail, or whatever your setup calls for. Two quick disconnect fittings per side keep your sling options wide open.
This is where the SBC08 earns its keep. It uses a standard AR-15 grip interface, so you can bolt on whatever grip fits your hand best and dial in the angle you like. The rear is threaded for an AR-15 buffer tube, which means you can run your favorite AR-style stock, whether that's a fixed precision stock or something collapsible for hauling around. A Radian Talon safety selector comes already installed, which takes one more step off your build list.
Swapping your rifle into the Heatseeker is a bench job you can knock out yourself with basic tools and the included instructions. This model is built specifically for the .22 LR Ruger Precision Rimfire and works with the factory detachable magazine. It is not set up for the .17 HMR or .22 WMR versions, so make sure you've got the .22 LR rifle before ordering. Fit and finish are a strong point here, and the machining quality shows the moment you pull it out of the box.
No, this particular chassis is built specifically for the .22 LR version of the Ruger Precision Rimfire. It is not compatible with the .17 HMR or .22 WMR models. If you have one of those, you'll want to look for a chassis designed around Ruger's 9-round rotary magazine for those calibers instead.
You can handle this one at home. The chassis ships with simplified instructions and installs with basic tools, so there's no trip to the gunsmith required. One thing worth noting is that some older Ruger Precision Rimfire rifles may need the barrel nut adjusted or swapped, so it's worth checking yours before you start.
