There's something about working a lever gun that never gets old, and Savage clearly gets that. The Revel DLX in .22 WMR keeps the traditional feel intact while quietly fixing the things that always bugged people about older rimfire levers. The big one is the toolless takedown system. Pop the rifle apart in seconds for cleaning or to stash it in a pack, no screwdriver hunt required. That alone makes it one of the more practical trail and truck rifles in its class.
The DLX trim is the dressed-up version of the Revel line, and it shows. You get a satin-finished walnut stock with stippling at the grip and forend that gives your hands real purchase in cold or wet weather, plus an oversized lever loop that cycles easily with gloves on. The 18-inch medium-profile carbon steel barrel comes threaded 1/2×28 from the factory, so adding a suppressor or muzzle device is simple. Up top, the aluminum receiver wears a durable black Cerakote finish and comes drilled and tapped, giving you a clean path to mounting a scope or red dot. Adjustable iron sights are already fitted and work well on their own for rimfire distances.
The .22 WMR chambering is where this rifle really makes sense. It hits noticeably harder and flatter than .22 LR, which makes the Revel a legitimate tool for rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, and pest control out to distances where a standard .22 starts to fade. The tubular magazine holds 9 rounds, the crossbolt safety is right where you expect it, and a rubber butt pad caps off the stock, not that .22 Mag recoil needs much taming.
At 38.4 inches overall with a 1:16 twist barrel and a 14.5-inch length of pull, this rifle fits most adults comfortably and carries all day without complaint. It's a good-looking, well-thought-out lever gun that works as hard as it looks nice, whether that's plinking cans with the family or filling the small game bag come fall.
