Put a Proof Research barrel on a Savage 110 action and good things happen. The 110 Carbon Tactical wears a 22 inch carbon fiber wrapped stainless steel barrel, cut rifled with a 1:10 twist that stabilizes the full range of .308 Win bullet weights. The carbon wrap trims a serious amount of weight compared to a traditional heavy-contour tactical barrel, so the whole rifle comes in around seven and a half pounds. That is light enough to carry on a hunt but stable enough to run drills off a barricade or bag.
The action is factory blueprinted and bedded in Savage's AccuStock system, which locks the receiver in place three-dimensionally along its full length instead of relying on a couple of pillar points. AccuFit technology lets you dial in length of pull and comb height with the included spacers and risers, so the rifle fits you instead of the other way around. The AccuTrigger adjusts from 1.5 to 4 pounds and breaks clean with no creep, which is a big part of why Savage rifles have earned their reputation for out-of-the-box accuracy.
A one-piece 20 MOA rail comes mounted from the factory, giving you extra elevation for stretching the .308 out past normal hunting distances. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24 under a protective cap, ready for a suppressor or brake whenever you are. Feeding comes from a 10-round Magpul AICS-pattern detachable box magazine with an extended release lever, and the oversized bolt handle gives you plenty of leverage for fast cycling from awkward positions.
The gray synthetic stock features a beavertail forend with three sling swivel studs, so you can run a bipod and a sling at the same time. Between the tang safety, the balanced handling, and that Proof barrel up front, this is one of those rifles that works just as well on a prairie dog town as it does at a precision match or in a deer stand.
Yes. The Proof Research barrel comes threaded 5/8×24 at the muzzle with a thread protector installed, which is the standard pattern for most .30 caliber suppressors and brakes. The carbon-wrapped barrel also handles the added weight of a can well since the rifle balances toward the middle.
It feeds from AICS-pattern detachable box magazines and ships with one 10-round Magpul mag. That is one of the most common short-action magazine patterns out there, so finding spares in 5 or 10 round capacities is easy. The extended magazine release lever makes swaps quick even with gloves on.
The AccuTrigger adjusts from roughly 1.5 to 4 pounds, and it breaks clean with no creep at any setting. The AccuFit stock system includes interchangeable spacers and comb risers so you can tune length of pull from 12.75 to 13.75 inches and set cheek height to line up properly behind your scope.
The built-in 20 MOA cant gives your scope extra elevation travel, which matters when you start dialing for targets past 600 yards or so with .308 Winchester. At closer ranges it makes no practical difference, so you get long-range capability without giving anything up. The one-piece design also adds rigidity over separate bases.
