At 2.9 ounces and 1.9 inches long, Rugged claims the R3 comes in over 30 percent lighter and 26 percent shorter than competing 5.56 designs, and after handling one you will believe it. The mounting surface is completely toothless, so there are no ratchet teeth or sharp edges to chew up gear bags, snag on slings, or collect carbon. That smooth taper is the whole point of the Dual Taper Lock setup. The suppressor seats on two matched tapers instead of teeth, which means a solid, repeatable lockup without the wear points that plague toothed mounts.
This mount works with Rugged's rifle and multi-caliber suppressors including the Radiant762, Surge 7.62, Razor 7.62, and Micro30. If you run one can across several rifles, dropping an R3 on each host is the easy way to swap your suppressor between them in seconds. It threads on like any standard muzzle device, and Rugged publishes straightforward mounting instructions for getting it timed and torqued correctly.

If you own one of those suppressors, the R3 lets you move it between hosts quickly. It also works fine as a standalone flash hider if you never attach a can at all.
This version is threaded 1/2×28, which is the standard thread pitch on the vast majority of 5.56 and .223 AR-15 barrels. As long as your muzzle threads are 1/2×28 and the bore is 5.56 or smaller, you are good to go. Rugged also makes 7.62 versions in 5/8×24 for larger calibers.
Very well. The prongs are variably fluted, which cuts muzzle flash dramatically while eliminating the ringing tone some prong-style flash hiders are known for. For a device this short and light, the flash suppression punches well above its weight.
No, the device ships on its own without timing hardware, so plan on picking up a shim kit or appropriate washer separately if your install needs indexing. Rugged provides mounting instructions covering proper installation and torque. It is also worth noting the R3 does not come pre-drilled for pinning and welding.
