It is a fully functional Lightweight Commander, so shoot it as much as you like. Plenty of buyers put a few boxes through theirs and keep it in rotation, though some prefer to leave a 1 of 500 gun unfired for collector value.
Ruger ships this model with two 7-round stainless steel magazines, giving you a 7+1 capacity of .45 ACP with one loaded. Standard SR1911 magazines are widely available if you want extras for range days.
Thanks to the anodized aluminum frame and 4.25 inch barrel, it weighs in around 29.3 ounces unloaded. That is roughly 10 ounces lighter than a typical all-steel government model, which makes a real difference if you carry it or spend long days with it on your hip. Recoil in .45 ACP is still very manageable with the Commander-length slide.
