Description

Ruger built its Street Edition series to tip the hat to the towns where its guns get made, and this one salutes Prescott, Arizona. The engraved stainless slide carries a bald eagle and the Ruger logo on the sides, with "200 Ruger Rd." rolled across the top, the address of the Prescott plant itself. Pair that with the black anodized aluminum frame and deluxe checkered brown/black G10 grips and you get a two-tone Commander that stands out in any safe. Only 500 of these were produced, so when they are gone, they are gone.

More Than a Safe Queen

Here is the part collectors sometimes overlook: this is a genuine Lightweight Commander that earns its keep at the range. The 4.25 inch barrel and aluminum frame bring the weight down to about 29.3 ounces, which makes it noticeably easier to pack around than a steel-frame government model. Ruger's CNC machining gives the slide-to-frame fit a smoothness you can feel on the first rack, and the polished titanium feed ramp helps it digest a wide range of .45 ACP loads. The skeletonized aluminum trigger breaks crisp with a quick reset, and the skeletonized hammer plus titanium firing pin speed up lock time. Novak drift-adjustable 3-dot sights give you a clean, proven sight picture whether you are punching paper or keeping it ready for serious use.

Classic SR1911 Controls, Prescott Character

Everything 1911 fans expect is here: original-style fire control, an oversized beavertail grip safety, and an extended thumb safety and slide stop that make manipulation easy under pressure. Capacity is 7+1 of .45 ACP, and Ruger includes two stainless steel magazines in the box so you are not hunting for a spare on day one. Whether you are adding to a Ruger collection, chasing down all five Street Edition addresses, or simply want a Commander with a story behind the engraving, this limited run checks the box on both looks and function.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the SR1911 Prescott AZ Edition different from a standard SR1911 Commander?

It is part of Ruger's Street Edition series, a run of five engraved Lightweight Commander pistols celebrating the addresses of Ruger's manufacturing facilities. This one features a bald eagle and Ruger logo engraved on the slide flats with "200 Ruger Rd." on top, honoring the Prescott, Arizona plant. It also wears deluxe brown/black checkered G10 grips instead of standard panels, and production was capped at 500 units.

Is the Ruger SR1911 Prescott Edition just a collectible, or can I shoot it regularly?

It is a fully functional Lightweight Commander, so shoot it as much as you like. You get the same aluminum frame, polished titanium feed ramp, skeletonized trigger, and Novak 3-dot sights found on Ruger's standard Commander models. Plenty of buyers put a few boxes through theirs and keep it in rotation, though some prefer to leave a 1 of 500 gun unfired for collector value.

How many magazines come with the SR1911 Prescott AZ Edition?

Ruger ships this model with two 7-round stainless steel magazines, giving you a 7+1 capacity of .45 ACP with one loaded. Standard SR1911 magazines are widely available if you want extras for range days.

How heavy is this pistol compared to a full-size steel 1911?

Thanks to the anodized aluminum frame and 4.25 inch barrel, it weighs in around 29.3 ounces unloaded. That is roughly 10 ounces lighter than a typical all-steel government model, which makes a real difference if you carry it or spend long days with it on your hip. Recoil in .45 ACP is still very manageable with the Commander-length slide.
