The RXM came out of a collaboration between Ruger and Magpul, and it shows in all the right places. At the heart of the pistol is a removable, serialized stainless steel Fire Control Insert that drops into the Stealth Gray Magpul Enhanced Handgun Grip. Since the insert is the serialized part, you can swap grip frames down the road as Ruger and Magpul release new options, which makes this one of the more adaptable striker-fired 9mms in its class. Better yet, most major components are built to Gen 3 pattern dimensions, so a huge range of off-the-shelf holsters, magazines, and parts fit right out of the gate.
Magpul put real thought into this grip. The 3/4-scale TSP texture locks into your hand without chewing up clothing during carry, and textured indexing pads give your trigger finger and support thumb a consistent home. You also get a trigger guard undercut and beavertail that encourage a high grip, a subtly flared magwell for faster reloads, an extended mag release with a scalloped frame cutout, and a universal accessory rail up front for a light or laser. The Stealth Gray color is a nice change of pace from the sea of black polymer, too.
The through-hardened alloy steel slide wears a Black FNC Nitride finish and mounts RMR, Delta Point Pro, and RMSc pattern optics directly, no adapter plates needed. Co-witness height steel sights with a tritium front dot give you a usable sight picture day or night, with or without a red dot installed. Front and rear serrations make press checks easy, and the 4 inch precision-rifled barrel carries the same tough nitride treatment.
This model ships with two Magpul PMAG 15 GL9 magazines for a 15+1 capacity, plus a co-branded hard case. At 23.2 ounces with a 7.15 inch overall length, it hits that sweet spot between duty-size shootability and everyday carry, whether it rides on your hip, in the nightstand, or runs drills at the range.
Yes, and that's a big part of its appeal. The RXM's major components are built to Gen 3 pattern dimensions, so it runs Glock-pattern magazines like the included PMAG GL9s and fits many off-the-shelf Gen 3 style holsters and accessories. It's one of the easiest pistols to outfit without hunting for proprietary gear.
You can. The slide is cut for direct mounting of RMR, Delta Point Pro, and RMSc footprint optics with no adapter plates required. The steel sights are co-witness height with a tritium front dot, so you keep a solid backup sight picture even with an optic installed.
