The Ruger RXM is what happens when two of the most respected names in the industry stop making separate products and start making one together. Ruger handled the serialized steel Fire Control Insert and the mechanical side of things, while Magpul brought their Enhanced Handgun Grip to the table with no-finger-groove geometry, a built-in beavertail, and their 3/4-scale TSP texture that grips well without tearing up a concealment garment. The result is a full-size, striker-fired 9mm that feels familiar right out of the box and shoots better than most guns at this price point.
This particular model, the 19447, is the threaded variant in Stealth Gray. The 4.5-inch alloy steel barrel is finished in black FNC nitride and threaded 1/2×28, and Ruger includes both a factory thread protector and an additional 18 lb recoil spring assembly specifically for tuning the pistol to suppressor use. The flat-faced trigger has a smooth pull and a tactile reset, and the extended magazine release and raised slide stop make the controls feel more dialed-in than a stock Glock right out of the box.
The slide is cut for direct optic mounting on the RMR, DeltaPoint Pro, and RMSc footprint, which covers the most popular red dots on the market. Co-witness-height steel irons are standard, with a tritium front sight so you have a usable sight picture in low light even without a glass optic installed. The accessory rail under the dust cover gives you a place to mount a light or laser without any adapters.
What really sets the RXM apart from the pile of Gen 3-pattern pistols out there is the modular FCI system. The serialized stainless steel Fire Control Insert lives inside the grip module and can be dropped into a different Magpul EHG frame in a matter of minutes with a punch. That means one purchase can grow into multiple configurations as Magpul continues expanding their grip lineup. Most major components are also designed for Gen 3 compatibility, so a wide range of off-the-shelf holsters, sights, and other parts already work with it. Two Magpul PMAG 17 GL9 magazines and a co-branded plastic carry case come included.
Yes, for the most part. Ruger designed the RXM so that major components are compatible with Gen 3-type pistols, and a large majority of Glock 19-pattern holsters including light-bearing models fit the RXM without issues. It also uses standard Glock-pattern double-stack 9mm magazines, so your existing G19 mags work just fine.
The Fire Control Insert, or FCI, is the serialized stainless steel chassis inside the grip frame. It is the legal firearm, which means you can swap the Magpul grip module for a different size or color without transferring the gun. It is a concept similar to the SIG P320's Fire Control Unit, and it opens up real long-term flexibility as Magpul continues releasing new EHG frame options.
The 19447 comes with a 4.5-inch barrel threaded 1/2×28, a factory-installed thread protector, and an additional 18 lb recoil spring assembly. That heavier spring is there to help the pistol cycle reliably with the added backpressure of a suppressor or compensator, and it is a nice touch that Ruger includes it in the box rather than making you source one separately.
The slide is cut for three of the most popular optic footprints: the Trijicon RMR, Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, and the Shield RMSc. That covers a huge range of micro and full-size pistol red dots from brands like Trijicon, Leupold, Holosun, and more. The co-witness-height irons let you use the tritium front sight through or alongside most of these optics.
The RXM has been well-received in suppressor-host testing, with multiple reviewers noting reliable cycling and no mechanical issues running suppressed. The included heavier recoil spring gives you a starting point for tuning to your specific can and ammunition combination. The optic-ready slide and tritium irons both remain useful even when a suppressor is mounted.
Magpul uses their 3/4-scale TSP (Texture Surface Pattern) on the EHG, which is the same texture found on many of their popular rifle and pistol accessories. It is aggressive enough to give a confident purchase under recoil but not so rough that it wears through a cover garment or becomes uncomfortable during extended range sessions. The grip also features a no-finger-groove design and a slight beavertail to help prevent slide bite.
