The RM1C from Rost Martin landed on the scene at SHOT Show 2024 and quickly turned heads. Coming out of Dallas, Texas, this veteran-owned company built their inaugural pistol with one clear goal: pack in every feature serious gun owners actually want, without the premium price tag that usually comes with it. The result is a compact, polymer-framed, striker-fired 9mm with a 4-inch hammer-forged barrel, a low bore axis, and more ergonomic attention to detail than you'd normally see at this price point.
This specific version of the RM1C ships with the HIVIZ LiteWave H3 front sight, which combines tritium with HIVIZ's own fiber-optic LitePipe technology for a sight picture that works in full sunlight or a pitch-black parking lot. It's a genuine 24-hour solution in a single sight, not just a standard white dot with tritium tacked on. The rear sight is serrated black, keeping your focus on the front. Out of the box, you're getting a carry-ready sight setup that many people would pay to upgrade to after the fact.
Rost Martin put a lot of thought into how this pistol feels in the hand. The Responsive Grip Texturing, or RGT, is a proprietary graduated laser stippling that grips back harder the more pressure you apply. It's not a one-size-fits-all approach. The frame also includes an undercut trigger guard, an extended beavertail, and textured index points on both sides of the frame to help you drive the gun and manage recoil. Three interchangeable backstraps are included so you can dial in the fit for your hand size. The flat-face trigger has a built-in drop safety tab, a clean break, and a short reset that reviewers consistently praise for a factory striker-fired gun.
The controls are fully ambidextrous from the factory, including both the slide release and magazine release. That is a bigger deal than it sounds because most pistols in this category either skip that feature entirely or make you swap a reversible mag release yourself. The funneled magazine well keeps reloads smooth, and a loaded chamber indicator on top of the slide plus a cocked striker indicator at the rear of the slide give you two ways to check the gun's status at a glance.
The slide is treated with Tenifer nitrocarburizing for corrosion resistance and durability, the optics cut ships with a metal RMR-footprint plate installed, and the full three-slot Picatinny rail up front accepts most popular weapon lights. Holster availability is strong, with multiple manufacturers making dedicated fits, and the geometry is close enough to a Glock 19 that many G19 holsters will work in a pinch. It is backed by Rost Martin's lifetime warranty.
Most night sights rely on tritium alone, which glows in the dark but can look dim during daylight. The HIVIZ LiteWave H3 combines tritium with HIVIZ's own fiber-optic LitePipe technology, so the front sight is genuinely bright in daylight and still self-illuminated in low light or darkness. It is a true 24-hour sight system rather than a sight optimized for just one condition. HIVIZ backs the tritium element with a 12-year warranty against loss of illumination.
The RM1C's overall dimensions are very close to the Glock 19, and multiple reviewers have confirmed it fits G19 IWB holsters well in a pinch. That said, the RM1C has its own dedicated holster support from manufacturers like ANR Design, Blackpoint Tactical, CrossBreed, DeSantis, and We The People, so finding a proper fit is not difficult. If you are running a weapon light or red dot, it is worth buying a holster purpose-built for the RM1C to ensure a secure fit.
The 4-inch barrel puts the RM1C in compact territory, similar in footprint to a Glock 19, so it is absolutely a viable carry option for people comfortable with that size class. At 21.1 ounces unloaded and 1.1 inches wide at the grip, it carries well IWB. The extended beavertail and undercut trigger guard help you get a high, consistent grip which is a real advantage for both comfort and control during a draw.
The RM1C ships with a metal RMR-footprint plate installed, which opens it up to a wide range of popular red dots including Trijicon RMR, SRO, and RCR, plus Holosun 407C, 507C, 508T, 509T, and EPS. Additional metal optic plates for other footprints like Docter, Leupold DPP, and Shield are available through Rost Martin's website. Plates are reasonably priced and the optics cut is machined directly into the nitrocarburized steel slide.
The RM1C uses its own branded steel magazines made by Mec-Gar. This 10-round configuration ships with a single 10-round magazine. The RM1C is also compatible with CZ P10 series magazines, which is handy if you already have a supply of them or want to source extras. Rost Martin's own spare magazines are affordably priced and widely available.
In an extended 18-month, 1,500-round evaluation by Guns.com, the RM1C ran without any reported malfunctions and held up well to regular use. Shooting Illustrated ran 450 rounds through a test gun with minimal maintenance and reported zero failures across a variety of ammunition types from underpowered 115-grain ball to 124-grain +P defensive loads. Rost Martin also subjects the design to 50,000-round durability testing as well as mud, sand, ice, and drop tests before backing it with a lifetime warranty.
