Rost Martin is a veteran-owned, Dallas, Texas-based firearms company, and the RM1C was their opening statement to the market. It's a bold one. The RM1C is a compact, polymer-frame, striker-fired 9mm built to deliver the kind of features you'd typically find on custom or premium-tier pistols without the premium price attached. The 4-inch hammer-forged barrel carries a target crown and pairs with a low bore axis to keep muzzle flip manageable and put rounds where you want them. The Tenifer-treated nitrocarburized slide is tough against corrosion and hard wear, and the steel dovetail sights use the same XD/XDM footprint, so aftermarket options are easy to find if you want to upgrade.
The optics situation on this pistol is particularly well thought out. It ships with a metal RMR-footprint plate already installed, which immediately opens the door to a huge range of popular red dots including Trijicon RMR and SRO, Holosun 407C, 507C, 508T, 509T, and EPS, plus Swampfox options. Additional adapter plates for other footprints are available directly from Rost Martin. The 3-slot full Picatinny accessory rail upfront gives you plenty of room to mount a weapon light without compromise. The flat-face trigger breaks at around 5 pounds with a very short reset and a clean wall, and field stripping the RM1C does not require pulling the trigger first, which is a thoughtful and practical departure from the Glock-style norm.
Ergonomics get serious attention here. Rost Martin's signature Responsive Grip Texturing (RGT) is a graduated laser stippling that grips back proportionally to however hard you're squeezing the gun. It also wraps around the front, back, and sides of the grip, plus two index points above the trigger guard to help with hand placement. The grip is slim at 1.1 inches wide, which helps with carry and general handling. Modular backstraps let you tune the fit to your hand, and both the slide release and magazine release are fully ambidextrous out of the box, making this one of the more left-hand-friendly factory pistols in this price range. A rear striker-cocked indicator and a loaded chamber indicator on top of the slide round out the thoughtful details.
Rost Martin backs the RM1C with a lifetime warranty, and after multiple extended range evaluations by independent reviewers logging 1,500 rounds or more, reliability has been consistently reported as strong. This particular model ships with two 10-round magazines. The steel magazines are made by Mec-Gar and the RM1C also accepts standard CZ P10 magazines if you need to source extras. This 10-round model ships with two proprietary Rost Martin 10-round magazines, which are steel-bodied and made by Mec-Gar. The RM1C also accepts standard CZ P10 magazines, which are widely available and reasonably priced. Extra Rost Martin factory magazines are also available directly through the company at competitive prices.
Field stripping the RM1C is straightforward and should feel familiar to anyone who has owned a Glock-style pistol, with two takedown levers on either side of the frame. One notable difference is that you do not need to pull the trigger to release the striker before removing the slide, which many consider a safer and more practical approach. No tools are required.
Rost Martin has confirmed holster support from Crossbreed, DeSantis, ANR Design, Blackpoint Tactical, and We The People, all of whom offer RM1C-specific fits. Because the RM1C has similar dimensions to the Glock 19, some G19-specific holsters with adjustable retention also work, though Rost Martin recommends using a holster made specifically for the RM1C platform for safety and retention assurance.
At 7.1 inches long, 5 inches tall, and just 1.1 inches wide, the RM1C sits squarely in the compact carry category alongside the Glock 19 and similar pistols. At 21 ounces unloaded it is on the lighter side for its size, and the slim grip makes it manageable for IWB carry. The fully ambidextrous controls, low bore axis, and modular backstraps also make it a well-rounded option for everyday use.
Rost Martin's Responsive Grip Texturing (RGT) is a proprietary graduated laser stippling that covers the front, back, and sides of the grip, plus raised index points above the trigger guard. The idea is that it grips more aggressively the harder you squeeze, giving a secure hold without being abrasive during extended handling or during a draw from concealment. Reviewers generally describe it as comfortable and functional, landing in a moderate range compared to more aggressive stippling jobs.
