Description

Rock River Arms built the X-1 LAR-15M for one thing above all else: putting rounds on top of each other. This is a precision-focused AR-15 chambered in .223 Wylde, a match chamber that splits the difference between a tight .223 Remington and a 5.56 NATO throat, so you get the accuracy benefits of a snug chamber while still being able to run common 5.56 ammo. Rock River rates this rifle for 3/4 MOA at 100 yards, which is the kind of accuracy that lets you stretch out and trust your hits.

What Makes the X-1 LAR-15M Shoot So Well

The heart of the accuracy story is the 18-inch fluted stainless steel barrel with a 1:8 twist. It's bead blasted and cryo treated, which helps relieve stress in the steel for more consistent harmonics shot to shot. The 1:8 twist is the sweet spot for stabilizing a wide range of bullet weights, so you can load up lighter varmint pills or heavier match projectiles without giving up stability. Out front sits an RRA Hunter Muzzle Brake on a 1/2×28 thread, taming muzzle rise so you can stay on target through follow-up shots.

Trigger, Stock, and Handling on the X-1

This is where the X-1 really separates itself from a basic carbine. It runs the RRA Two-Stage Ultra Match Varmint trigger, a crisp, predictable break that makes precise shot placement a whole lot easier. The mid-length gas system smooths out the recoil impulse, and the 17-inch lightweight free-float M-LOK rail gives you a long, stable platform for a bipod, light, or hand stop while keeping the barrel free to do its thing. The RRA A2 Operator stock and Hogue rubber grip round it out with a solid cheek weld and a comfortable hold during long range sessions. Tipping the scales around 7.8 pounds, it carries some weight that actually works in your favor when you're trying to hold steady.

With its forged LAR-15M lower, forged A4 upper, flat-top Picatinny rail, and Star Safety, the X-1 is a great fit for the target shooter, the varmint hunter, or anyone who wants an out-of-the-box AR that's been set up for serious accuracy work rather than just plinking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the X-1 shoot both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO?

Yes. The .223 Wylde chamber was designed specifically to run both .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO safely. It uses a tighter design than a standard 5.56 chamber for better accuracy while still being relieved in the case body to aid extraction, so you get match-level precision with the flexibility to feed whatever's on the shelf.

How accurate is the Rock River Arms X-1?

Rock River rates this rifle for 3/4 MOA at 100 yards, which means it's capable of roughly three-quarter-inch groups at that distance with good ammo and a steady rest. The fluted, cryo-treated stainless barrel and two-stage Ultra Match Varmint trigger are the main drivers behind that performance. Real-world results will vary with the load you choose, but this is a genuinely accurate platform out of the box.

What's the difference between the A2 Operator stock and the carbine version?

This XAR1750BV1 model comes with the fixed RRA A2 Operator stock, which gives you a consistent length of pull and a rock-solid cheek weld for precision work. The closely related XAR1751BV1 swaps in an adjustable six-position Operator CAR stock instead. If a fixed, repeatable shooting position matters to you, the A2 is the one to grab.

Is the X-1 optic ready?

It is. The forged A4 upper features a full-length flat-top Picatinny rail, so you can mount a scope, red dot, or LPVO of your choice. There are no iron sights included, which gives you a clean slate to set the rifle up however suits your shooting.

Will the 1:8 twist barrel handle a range of bullet weights?

The 1:8 twist is widely considered the most versatile option for .223/5.56, stabilizing everything from lighter varmint bullets to heavier match projectiles in the 69 to 77 grain range. That makes the X-1 a flexible choice whether you're after small game, punching paper, or load development.

What does the X-1 come with?

Each rifle ships with one magazine, a carrying case, the owner's manual, and warranty information. The carrying case makes transport to and from the range easy right from day one.
