The RR1 is the tightest of the three main constrictions in Rob Roberts' Raptor lineup, built for close work where you want your shot pattern to stay dense and hit hard. Machined from 17-4 PH U.S. stainless steel, it holds up to weather, hard use, and the corrosive nature of a wet duck blind or a long dove field. The internal cuts do the heavy lifting here, concentrating your pattern so that early-flush birds and inside-the-decoys shots don't slip through gaps. This model is cut for the Standard Invector thread pattern, so it drops into 12 gauge barrels stamped Invector or Standard Invector, which covers a lot of older Browning and Winchester pump and autoloader guns.

What Sets the RR1 Raptor Apart

The Raptor series came out of the same design thinking as Rob Roberts' Triple Threat chokes, but with newer technology aimed at producing a hotter core pattern downrange. Instead of the traditional knurling you'll find on the older tubes, the Raptor chokes get machined claw marks that give you real grip when you're swapping tubes with cold or gloved hands. They're finished in a green Cerakote that looks sharp and adds a layer of protection against the elements.

Getting the Most Out of Your RR1

Like any choke, the RR1 rewards a little range time. Pattern it with a few different loads before you rely on it in the field, since constriction and shot type work together to shape what actually lands on target. This tube is at its best inside your typical close-range window, so pair it with the loads you'd reach for on flushing birds or decoying ducks and doves rather than long crossing shots.

One thing worth knowing if you shoot an over-under: the Raptor design only allows one RRaptor choke per gun, so you can't run them in both barrels of a double. For single-barrel autoloaders and pumps, that's a non-issue, and the RR1 makes a solid dedicated close-range tube in your rotation.
