The slide is milled with a recessed RMR-style footprint, so it directly accepts a Trijicon RMR and other optics that share that pattern. Because the cut is recessed, your dot sits lower for a cleaner sight picture and easier co-witness. Optics with a different footprint would need an adapter plate cut for the RMR pattern.
This particular slide is machined for the Glock 17 Gen3 frame and its rail and recoil spring layout. Gen4 and Gen5 models use different recoil assemblies and dimensions, so you'd want the matching Rival Arms slide for those generations. Always match the slide to your exact frame generation for a proper build.
