Description

The Recover Innovations P-IX takes a full-size Glock and wraps it in a chassis that handles like the AR-15 you already know. Instead of clamping onto your pistol, the whole thing opens like a clamshell so your Glock drops right in and locks down at three points. There are no permanent modifications and no gunsmithing involved, which means your handgun comes right back out whenever you want it as a pistol again. The result is a reverse-bullpup setup with authentic AR controls: an AR-style grip, a magazine well just forward of the trigger guard, and a safety selector positioned right where your thumb expects it.

What the P-IX Chassis Brings to Your Glock

Built from glass-reinforced polymer in a tan finish, the shell is loaded with Picatinny rail across the top, sides, and bottom, so mounting a red dot, weapon light, laser, or foregrip is straightforward. An adapter installs on the rear of the slide to run an external charging handle, and that is about all the assembly you will do. Reviewers consistently note that the pistol slides into the shell and locks up in about a minute, with attaching the charging handle taking longer than the actual install.

Real-World Handling with the P-IX

On the range, testers found they were faster and more accurate at distance with the P-IX than with the bare pistol, thanks to a longer sight radius and the ability to shoulder or brace the platform. The magwell sits AR-style, mags drop free for quick reloads, and the controls feel second nature to anyone with AR time. The trigger runs through a linkage, so expect a bit more take-up than a bare Glock, but reset is short and follow-up shots stay quick once you settle in.

Fit and Compatibility for the P-IX

The P-IX is built for medium-frame Glocks in compact and full-size, covering popular models like the G17, G19, G22, G23, G31, G34, G35, and G45 across multiple generations. One important note: it is not compatible with ported or compensated slides and barrels, and a slide-mounted red dot needs to come off before the Glock goes in the shell. Always check the manufacturer fit chart against your exact pistol before setting it up. This is the base kit without a brace, leaving you free to configure the stock, grip, and sights the way you want them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Glocks fit the P-IX conversion kit?

The P-IX is designed for medium-frame Glocks in both compact and full-size, including popular models like the G17, G19, G22, G23, G31, G34, G35, and G45 across several generations. Practically any Glock that is G19-sized or larger tends to work with the system. Always confirm your exact model and generation against the Recover Innovations fit chart before purchasing.

Does installing the P-IX require any permanent modifications to my Glock?

No. Your pistol drops into the clamshell chassis and locks down at three points, with a small adapter that fits on the rear of the slide for the charging handle. Nothing is drilled, cut, or altered, so your Glock comes right back out as a standard pistol whenever you want it.

Can I use the P-IX with a slide-mounted red dot or a ported barrel?

A red dot mounted on your slide needs to be removed before the Glock goes into the shell, since the chassis encloses the slide. The P-IX is also not compatible with ported or compensated slides and barrels, so stick to a standard configuration listed on the fit chart.

How does the trigger feel compared to shooting the bare Glock?

Because the P-IX uses a linkage to connect the chassis trigger to your pistol's trigger, you will notice a little more take-up and travel than a bare Glock. Reset stays fairly short, though, and most reviewers found they stopped noticing it once they were shooting. Keep in mind your donor pistol's trigger affects the feel, so a smoother aftermarket trigger carries over to a smoother pull.
