There are builder kits, and then there is what Radian puts in a box. This is the same matched receiver set that anchors their Model 1 rifle, machined from billet aluminum with reinforcement in the high stress areas and finished in Radian Black Cerakote. The upper arrives with the dust cover, lightweight forward assist, and handguard anti-rotation pin already installed, so a couple of the fiddlier steps of an AR build are handled before you ever pick up a punch. Pair it with the barrel, bolt carrier group, and trigger of your choice and you have a rifle that punches well above most factory guns.
The AX556 is one of the most complete ambidextrous lowers on the market. You get the Talon 45/90 safety selector, ambi bolt catch and release, and an ambi magazine release, plus Radian's A-DAC dual action catch setup that lets you lock the bolt to the rear right from the mag release. Lefties finally get a lower built for them, and right-handed users pick up faster manipulations in the process. The enhanced takedown pins are a nice touch too, easy to run without tools and solid once seated.
The 14 inch handguard uses Magpul's M-LOK attachment system, so lights, hand stops, and bipods bolt on wherever you want them. Radian includes the aluminum barrel nut, the wrench to install it, and the cross bolts, washers, and nuts for the handguard, which means no hunting down proprietary hardware mid-build.
Every piece here is matched, meaning the upper and lower fit together tight with none of the receiver wobble you find on mixed-brand builds. Toss in the Raptor-SD ambi charging handle, a favorite among suppressor users for its gas-deflecting design, and this kit covers nearly the whole parts list outside of your barrel, bolt, trigger, and furniture. It is a clean, well thought out starting point for a rifle you will keep for a long time.
The kit covers the matched receivers, handguard, barrel nut, and all the ambidextrous controls, but you will still need a barrel, gas system, bolt carrier group, trigger, buffer assembly, stock, and grip. In other words, the kit handles the foundation and lets you pick the parts that define how the rifle shoots. Most standard AR-15 components will drop right in.

Beyond the Talon 45/90 safety, ambi bolt catch, and ambi mag release, the A-DAC system lets you lock the bolt to the rear using the magazine release, so left-handed users can run the gun without reaching across the receiver. Right-handed users benefit too, since the extra controls speed up malfunction clearing and reloads.
Mostly, yes, but keep in mind the kit already includes Radian's proprietary controls, including the safety, bolt catch, mag release, and takedown pins. You mainly need the trigger group, springs, detents, and buffer components from a parts kit. Skip any generic controls that would duplicate what Radian ships in the box.
The Raptor-SD is Radian's suppressor-optimized version of their popular Raptor ambidextrous charging handle, designed to redirect gas blowback away from your face. It runs great on unsuppressed rifles too, with smooth one-handed operation from either side. It is a premium upgrade that most builders would buy separately anyway, so having it in the kit is a real bonus.
