The pad here runs just slightly wider than the nylon webbing, so you get that anchored, planted feel on your shoulder without the bulk of a full-width design. For lighter rifles and shotguns, that trimmer profile is a real advantage, and it carries a more traditional look than the beefier Claw models.
The magic is in the pad. A durable, odor-resistant rubber pad is molded right into the nylon webbing and gives roughly a half inch of stretch as you walk.
