Q built the 8.6 Blackout cartridge, so it makes sense they built the gun to run it right. The Fix pistol pairs a 12 inch stainless steel barrel with a screaming fast 1:3 twist that spins heavy .338 caliber bullets up to speed even at subsonic velocities. Based on a shortened 6.5 Creedmoor case, 8.6 Blackout handles both supersonic and subsonic loads, which makes this thing a legit hog and deer hammer when you hang a can on that M18x1.5 muzzle. Q ships it with their Cherry Bomb muzzle brake installed, so you have a solid mount ready to go for compatible suppressors.
This is not another Remington 700 clone with fresh paint. The Fix uses a lightweight one-piece receiver with no separate chassis, and the bolt locks directly into the barrel instead of a heavy steel receiver. That design cuts weight, keeps things rigid, and lets you swap barrels at your bench with basic tools instead of a trip to the gunsmith. The 45 degree short-throw bolt handle cycles fast and clears low-mounted optics, while the ambidextrous 45 degree safety and AR-style grip and mag release feel instantly familiar if you have spent time behind a black rifle. It feeds from common SR-25 pattern magazines and includes one 5-rounder in the box.
With the SBA3-style brace folded, this package tucks into a pack or truck bag with room to spare, and it comes in light enough to carry all day. The free-float Q-Sert handguard and continuous M1913 top rail give you plenty of real estate for a scope, thermal, or clip-on without touching the barrel. A crisp two-stage match trigger does its part when you are stretching shots. If you want maximum thump with minimum noise out of a compact bolt gun, this is the one Q built to do exactly that.
8.6 Blackout is a cartridge Q developed using a shortened 6.5 Creedmoor case necked up to a .338 caliber bullet. It was designed from the start for short barrels and runs both supersonic and subsonic loads. The 12 inch barrel with its 1:3 twist gets the powder burned and the bullet stabilized, so you give up very little by going compact.
That is really the whole point of this setup. The M18x1.5 threaded muzzle comes with Q's Cherry Bomb brake installed, which serves as a mount for compatible suppressors. Run heavy subsonic loads through a can and you get impressive energy on target with very little noise.
The Fix feeds from common SR-25 pattern magazines, the same style used by many .308 AR platforms. One 5-round magazine ships with the gun, and higher capacity SR-25 pattern mags will run as well. Just note that 8.6 Blackout rounds feed from standard .308-length magazines without any special hardware.
Yes, and it is one of the platform's best tricks. Because the bolt locks directly into the barrel rather than the receiver, barrel changes can be done at the user level with basic tools, no gunsmith needed. Q uses T25 screws throughout the gun, so swapping the handguard, brace, or barrel is a straightforward job at your bench.
