The Q LLC Shorty Stock is the answer for anyone who wants a genuinely compact AR without switching to a whole new platform. It grew out of the stock Q originally built for their Honey Badger SBR, a rig that earned a serious cult following for its short, PDW-style form factor. The catch back then was that the original stock was machined for the Honey Badger's proprietary receiver, so it wouldn't play nice with a standard lower. The Shorty fixes that. It bolts onto any mil-spec AR/M4 receiver extension, no special lower required.
This is a two-position adjustable design, so you get an extended length for shouldering and a collapsed setting that shrinks the overall length way down for storage, transport, and tight spaces. An integrated locking back plate keeps whichever position you're in locked in place, and the textured back plate gives you a solid, no-slip point of contact against the shoulder. There's a built-in QD sling point too, which is a nice touch on a stock this minimal since you're not hunting for somewhere to run your sling.
The Shorty ships as a complete assembly. In the box you get the stock, a recoil spring, a 3 oz buffer sized for 5.56 and 300 Blackout, and an assembly tool to get everything squared away. That abbreviated buffer is the key to the whole thing working, and it means the stock runs with any standard mil-spec bolt carrier group. Total weight lands around 14.5 oz with the spring and buffer installed, so it keeps the back end of your rifle light and nimble.
Worth noting: the Shorty is built for standard mil-spec AR/M4 receiver sets and is not compatible with the Honey Badger. If you're building a short, handy carbine for close quarters, vehicle work, or just a truck gun you can tuck away, this is one of the cleanest ways to get there.
