Instead of latches and locking collars, it relies on matching tapers machined into both the mount and the Cherry Bomb muzzle brake. When you spin the suppressor down, those tapers wedge together across a wide contact surface, and the result is a lockup that stays put and returns to the same place every time you reattach the can.
This version threads into SilencerCo's Omega 9K series and shares that mounting pattern with a handful of other pistol-sized cans, including the Omega 45K, Octane 9 and 45, Rugged Obsidian 9 and 45, and the Harvester 300. Swap out the factory piston or mount, thread in the Plan-B, and your can now snaps onto any barrel wearing a Cherry Bomb brake. There are no shims to stack, no washers, no crush parts, and no timing to fuss over on the muzzle device. The taper interface also keeps your suppressor aligned true to the bore and shields the barrel threads from carbon, which makes removal after a long range day far less of a wrestling match.
The mount is machined from heat-treated 17-4 stainless steel and comes in at a feathery 1.3 ounces, so it holds up to heat and hard use without dragging down the balance of a compact can. Installation is straightforward too, since the same tools SilencerCo ships with the suppressor handle the swap. If you already run Cherry Bombs on your rifles or pistols, or you plan to standardize on them, this little adapter is the piece that ties your Omega 9K into the whole system. Yes, the Plan-B is one half of a two-part system. You'll need a Q Cherry Bomb muzzle brake (sold separately) installed on your host barrel, since the mount's taper is designed to lock up against the matching taper on the brake. Without a Cherry Bomb on the muzzle, the mount has nothing to attach to.
This version shares its mounting pattern with several compact cans. It fits the SilencerCo Omega 9K, Omega 45K, Octane 9, and Octane 45, plus the Rugged Obsidian 9 and Obsidian 45 and the Harvester 300. If your suppressor is on a different pattern, Q makes other Plan-B variants to cover it.
No special tools are required beyond what SilencerCo already provides. The same tool kit that came with your suppressor for swapping pistons and mounts handles the Plan-B installation. Remove the existing mount or piston assembly, thread the Plan-B in, and you're set.
No, and that's a big part of its appeal. The taper interface between the mount and the Cherry Bomb does all the work, so there are no shims, washers, springs, or latches involved and nothing needs to be timed.
