You're adding tripod function without loading your handguard down with bulk you'll feel on a long day.
Two details matter more than the spec sheet lets on. The integrated hard-stops at the end of the rails keep the rifle from sliding off the head during setup or when you reposition, which is exactly when a slick dovetail tends to bite people.
