ProMag PM278 Tactical Folding Stock for Remington 597 – Black

Description

The ProMag PM278 gives your Remington 597 a whole new personality. Instead of a traditional wood or standard synthetic stock, this one adds a positive locking side-folding hinge that collapses the rifle down to a shorter footprint, which makes tossing it in a pack, range bag, or truck a lot easier. It is built for the Model 597 in .22 LR, and it installs as a drop-in swap so you are not fighting with a bunch of fitment headaches.

What Sets the PM278 Folding Stock Apart

The stock is molded from ProMag's Technapolymer, a durable synthetic that shrugs off moisture and the kind of knocks a plinking rifle picks up over the years. The ergonomic pistol grip gives you a comfortable, upright hold, and there is a sealed storage compartment tucked inside the grip for stashing small essentials like spare parts, a cleaning tool, or a handful of rounds. Up front, a Picatinny tri-rail forend opens the door to mounting lights, lasers, a bipod, or whatever else fits your setup.

Comfort and Handling on the Remington 597

Even though the .22 LR barely kicks, ProMag finished the PM278 with a soft rubber recoil pad and a ventilated, textured hand guard that make it pleasant to shoot for long sessions. The buttpad and grip surfaces are contoured so the rifle feels planted in your hands. The folding mechanism locks solidly in the open position, so once it is deployed you get a stable shooting platform without any sloppy play at the hinge.

A Practical Upgrade Made in the USA

This is a great pick if you like the idea of a takedown-style .22 for camping, trapping, or truck-gun duty without buying a whole new rifle. It is made in the USA and backed by ProMag's lifetime warranty, so it is a low-risk way to freshen up an older 597 or build out a fun tactical-style rimfire project.
