The Field Tek line runs on a gas-operated system. Gas guns bleed off some of the recoil energy to cycle the action, which makes for a noticeably softer shooting experience. Combined with the 20 gauge chambering and rubber butt pad, this is a comfortable gun to shoot all day.
The Bottomland pattern was designed for timber and marsh, so this configuration is a natural fit for duck hunting. That said, the 28 inch barrel and full choke set make it just as capable on doves, upland birds, and clay targets. The 20 gauge chambering also makes it a solid pick for smaller-framed or recoil-sensitive hunters.
