There's something about a 20 gauge over-under that just feels right in the hands, and the Pointer Acrius nails that feeling without demanding a premium gun budget. Built in Turkey and imported by Legacy Sports International, this break-action double pairs 28-inch chrome-lined barrels with 3-inch chambers, a raised ventilated rib, and a red fiber-optic front bead that picks up fast when a bird flushes or a clay leaves the house. At around 6.2 pounds with a 45.2-inch overall length, it carries easily through a long day in the field and swings smoothly on crossing targets.
The stock and forend are real Turkish walnut with cut checkering and a satin finish, set against a floral coin-finish receiver with laser engraving that gives the gun a much dressier look than you'd expect at this level. A rubber butt pad takes the edge off recoil, though a 20 gauge this size is already pleasant to shoot, which makes it a great fit for newer wingshooters and smaller-framed folks working up their skills.
The Acrius ships with five flush-fit choke tubes, Cylinder through Full, and they're Mobil-style threads, so most Beretta-pattern tubes will screw right in if you want to expand your options later. Screw in Improved Cylinder for close-flushing quail, tighten up to Modified or Full for longer shots, and you've covered most of what a field gun needs to do. The single mechanical trigger breaks cleanly, a barrel selector lets you choose which tube fires first, and the top tang safety sits right under your thumb where it belongs.
Extractors lift both hulls for easy removal, and the break-action design keeps maintenance about as simple as shotguns get. Pop it open, wipe it down, and it's ready for the next round of clays or another walk behind the dog. For anyone who's wanted a proper double gun without a proper double-gun price, the Acrius makes a strong case for itself.
The Acrius is manufactured in Turkey by Khan and imported by Legacy Sports International under the Pointer brand. Turkey has become a major hub for quality shotgun production, and this gun reflects that with real walnut, chrome-lined barrels, and an engraved receiver at a very approachable price point.
It comes with five flush-mount tubes: Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified, and Full. The threads are Mobil-style, which means most Beretta Mobilchoke-pattern tubes are compatible if you ever want extended or specialty chokes down the road.
This model uses extractors rather than automatic ejectors. When you break the action open, both hulls are lifted out of the chambers so you can pluck them by hand. A lot of hunters prefer extractors since spent shells don't get flung into the brush, and it's one less mechanism to fuss with.
It's one of the better entry points into double guns out there. At about 6.2 pounds it's light enough to carry all day, the 20 gauge keeps recoil manageable, and the five included chokes let it handle everything from skeet to upland birds. It gives you the classic over-under experience without a big upfront commitment.
