POF-USA has spent over 15 years refining the P-415 EDGE, and this .300 Blackout complete upper is where a lot of that engineering pays off. Instead of dumping hot, dirty gas back into the action like a direct-impingement AR, it runs a pistol-length short-stroke gas piston system with a 5-position adjustable gas plug. That means a cooler, cleaner-running action and the ability to tune the gun for supersonic loads, subsonics, or suppressed shooting without over-gassing things. For a .300 Blackout build, that adjustability is the whole ballgame.
The internals are classic POF. You get a one-piece piston bolt carrier group with the mechanical key machined right into the body, which cuts out the possibility of a key working loose or the carrier tilting under load. The patented roller cam pin rolls inside the upper's channel rather than dragging a square steel head across it, so there's less friction and less wear over a long round count. Add nickel-plated bolt and extractor, a chrome firing pin, and POF's E2 extraction technology, which uses small channels cut into the chamber to help ease spent cases out and extend extractor life, and you've got an action built to keep cycling when things get hot and fouled.
The 10.5" barrel is 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel with a black nitride heat treatment, 5R rifling, and a 1:7 twist that stabilizes everything from heavy 190 to 220 grain subsonic bullets to lighter supersonic stuff. The muzzle is threaded 5/8×24, so mounting a suppressor or muzzle device is straightforward. Wrapping it all up is a slim 9" free-floating M-LOK handguard on POF's MRR backbone, trimmed down in width to roughly 1.75 inches for better handling in tight quarters and plenty of real estate for lights, lasers, and other accessories.
The forged aluminum upper is optic-ready with a black hard coat anodized finish and ships with the forward assist and a U.S. flag laser-engraved ejection port cover installed. Drop it onto any mil-spec AR-15 lower and you've got a compact, suppressor-friendly Blackout setup ready for range work, hog hunting, or a dedicated home-defense build.
Yes. This upper is precision machined to mil-spec M-16/M4 dimensions with M4 feed ramps, so it mates up with standard mil-spec AR-15 lower receivers. One thing to keep in mind is that the handguard is built on POF's proprietary MRR backbone, so it's only compatible with P-415 EDGE rails if you ever want to swap it.
It's one of the better options out there for it. The pistol-length piston system with a 5-position adjustable gas plug lets you dial the gas back down when you add a can, which keeps the action running clean and cuts down on gas blowback. The 5/8×24 threaded muzzle makes mounting a .300 Blackout suppressor simple.
The 1:7 twist is versatile and stabilizes the full spread of .300 Blackout loads. It handles heavy 190 to 220 grain subsonic bullets just as well as lighter supersonic rounds, which is exactly what you want out of a Blackout barrel. Between the twist rate and the adjustable gas, you can run a wide range of ammo without a lot of fuss.
A direct-impingement AR vents hot, dirty gas straight back into the bolt carrier and receiver, which builds up carbon and heat over time. POF's short-stroke piston keeps that gas up front, so the action stays cooler and cleaner across high round counts. Paired with the E2 extraction channels and roller cam pin, it's built to keep cycling reliably when a standard gun would start to gum up.
