Straight-wall cartridges have opened up a lot of deer country to AR platforms, and the POF Minuteman in .350 Legend is one of the more refined ways to take advantage of it. Patriot Ordnance Factory built this one on their proven Minuteman platform, so you get the same upgrades found on their 5.56 carbines, just chambered for a round that hits noticeably harder up close. The .350 Legend delivers roughly 50 percent more energy than .223 with about a third of the recoil of a .450 Bushmaster, which makes it a genuinely pleasant round to shoot from a bench or a box blind.
The 16.5 inch match-grade Puritan barrel is nitride heat-treated for corrosion resistance and long service life, with a 1:16 twist and 1/2×28 threading behind POF's proprietary 3-prong flash hider. POF's E2 dual-extraction chamber cuts four small channels into the chamber walls, using a bit of gas pressure against the case neck to help kick spent brass out reliably, a nice touch with a tapered-shoulder round like the .350. The direct impingement bolt carrier group runs POF's patented roller cam pin to reduce friction and wear, and the anti-tilt buffer tube keeps the carrier supported through its full travel.
At 6.2 pounds with a 34 inch collapsed length, this rifle is easy to pack into a stand or still-hunt with all day. The free-floating 14.5 inch M-LOK Renegade rail includes five integrated QD sling mounts and POF's oversized heat sink barrel nut, giving you plenty of real estate for lights, bipods, and sling setups. Controls are thoughtful too: an ambidextrous safety selector, ambi Strike Eagle charging handle, and a QD endplate at the rear. The 3.5 pound flat-faced match trigger is the kind of upgrade most folks add later, and here it comes standard.
The rifle ships with a 30-round Magpul PMAG and pairs well with everything from soft point hunting loads to heavy subsonics for suppressed shooting. Just note the .357 bore means 5.56 muzzle devices won't fit; stick with 350-specific accessories on that threaded muzzle.
It's a great fit for whitetail inside 200 yards or so. The .350 Legend was designed as a straight-wall deer cartridge, delivering significantly more energy than .223 with very mild recoil. Yes, the barrel is threaded 1/2×28 behind the factory 3-prong flash hider. Keep in mind the .350 Legend uses a .357 bore, so standard 5.56 muzzle devices will not work. Make sure any brake or suppressor you choose is rated for .35 caliber or larger. The round also pairs well with subsonic loads for suppressed shooting.
The E2 chamber has four small channels cut into its walls that direct a bit of gas pressure against the neck of the spent case during firing. This helps push the case out of the chamber, taking strain off the extractor and improving reliability. It's a subtle upgrade that pays off with a tapered cartridge like the .350 Legend.
It ships with one 30-round Magpul PMAG. There are no iron sights included, as the rifle is optics-ready with a full-length top rail on the slab-side upper and free-float handguard. Most owners top it with a red dot or a low-power variable scope for hunting.
