Description
Patriot Ordnance Factory built its name on gas piston rifles, so when they turned their attention to direct impingement, they didn't settle for another parts-bin build. The Renegade Plus is their answer to every complaint people have about DI guns, and it shows in the details. The patented heat sink barrel nut pulls heat away from the chamber area during hard use, the straight gas tube avoids the hot spots of a standard bent tube, and the roller cam pin cuts friction between the bolt carrier and upper receiver for a noticeably smoother action.
Why the Renegade Plus Earns Its Name
The heart of this rifle is a 16.5 inch nitride heat treated 4150 chrome vanadium barrel with a 1:8 twist, 5R rifling, and 1/2×28 threads wearing a triple port muzzle brake that flattens out muzzle rise. The mid-length gas system runs through POF's Dictator 9-position adjustable gas block, so you can dial the gun in for a suppressor, light practice loads, or anything in between. Trigger duty is handled by POF's drop-in flat single stage unit with a crisp 3.5 lb pull and short reset, held in place with KNS anti-walk pins. Most factory rifles need a trigger upgrade before they feel this good. This one doesn't.
Ambidextrous From the Ground Up
The Gen 4 billet lower is fully ambidextrous, with the safety, bolt release, and mag release all mirrored for lefties, plus an ambi charging handle up top and QD sling points on both sides. The 14.5 inch Renegade rail free floats the barrel with M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, a full-length top rail, and a cutout for reaching the gas block.
Burnt Bronze Looks, Range-Ready Feel
The Burnt Bronze Cerakote receivers and rail pair with black Mission First Tactical furniture, including the lightweight Minimalist stock and Engage grip. At roughly 6.3 pounds bare, it swings quick and totes easy, whether you're running drills, calling coyotes, or just enjoying a good range day.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the POF Renegade Plus a piston gun or direct impingement?
This one is direct impingement, which is a bit of a departure for POF since they made their name with piston ARs. The twist is that they engineered around the usual DI pain points with a heat sink barrel nut, straight gas tube, roller cam pin, and adjustable gas block. The result is a DI rifle that runs smoother and cooler than most.
Can I run a suppressor on the Renegade Plus?
Yes, and it's set up well for it. The barrel has standard 1/2×28 muzzle threads, and the Dictator gas block gives you 9 settings so you can turn the gas down when shooting suppressed. That kind of tunability keeps the gun from getting overgassed and beating itself up with a can attached.
Does the POF Renegade Plus come with sights?
No, it ships optic ready with no iron sights installed. The full-length Picatinny top rail runs continuously across the receiver and 14.5 inch handguard, so you have plenty of real estate for a red dot, LPVO, or backup irons. Most buyers pair it with an optic that matches how they plan to use it.
Is the trigger worth keeping or should I plan on upgrading it?
Keep it. The factory drop-in flat trigger breaks at a crisp 3.5 pounds with a short reset, and it comes secured with KNS Precision anti-walk pins. It's the kind of trigger people usually spend extra money to add to a rifle, so you're getting that upgrade built in from the start.
