The 16.5 inch match-grade Puritan barrel is 4150 CrMoV steel with 5R rifling, a nitride heat treatment for corrosion resistance, and a 1:8 twist that stabilizes everything from 55 grain plinking ammo to heavier 77 grain match loads. POF pairs it with a mid-length gas system for softer, smoother cycling than a carbine-length setup, and their patented E2 dual extraction chamber cuts four small channels into the chamber walls to ease case extraction and extend extractor life. A 14.5 inch Renegade free float M-LOK rail with an oversized heat sink barrel nut covers the barrel, giving you plenty of real estate for lights and grips plus integrated QD sling points.
Lefties get a fair shake here. The ambidextrous safety selector, Strike Eagle charging handle, and QD sling swivel end plate mean the controls work the same no matter which side you run the gun from. Mission First Tactical furniture keeps weight down, with a Minimalist stock on an anti-tilt buffer tube and an Engage grip, bringing the whole rifle in at a trim 6.2 pounds and 34 inches collapsed.
The Tungsten Cerakote finish looks sharp and shrugs off wear better than bare anodizing. A proprietary three-prong flash hider on 1/2×28 threads tames muzzle flash, and the flat-top receiver is optics ready, so mount your red dot or LPVO, load up the included 30-round magazine, and get to work. This is a lot of well-thought-out rifle for a general purpose 5.56 carbine.
No, the Minuteman is a direct impingement rifle. POF built its reputation on short-stroke piston guns, and the Minuteman line was their way of bringing that same attention to detail to a traditional DI platform at a friendlier price point. You still get their upgraded trigger, roller cam pin bolt carrier, and E2 dual extraction chamber.
No, it ships optics ready with a bare flat-top rail and no iron sights. The full-length top rail gives you plenty of room for a red dot, LPVO, or a set of backup irons. Most buyers pair it with whatever optic fits their use, and it's good to go from there.
The 1:8 twist is a versatile middle ground that stabilizes most common bullet weights well, from 55 grain range ammo up through 69 and 77 grain match loads. Since it's chambered in 5.56 NATO, it safely runs both 5.56 and .223 Remington. That flexibility makes it a solid all-around choice for training, defense, and varmint work.
It's one of the better setups out there for lefties at this level. The safety selector is ambidextrous, the Strike Eagle charging handle can be run from either side, and the QD sling end plate mounts on both sides. Ejection is still standard right-side, but the controls themselves work equally well from either shoulder.
