Pietta did modernize the sights with a wider rear notch and a larger front blade for quicker aiming, and the frames and barrels are drop forged and CNC machined for consistent fit.
Because the GWII uses a traditional hammer-mounted firing pin design, the time-tested practice is to load five rounds and rest the hammer on an empty chamber. That's how the original 1873-pattern guns were handled, and it's the safe habit to build with any revolver of this style.
