Big-bore power without the big-bore bulk. That is the whole idea behind the POF-USA LMR Base, and it delivers. Most .308 ARs feel like carrying a fence post through the woods, but POF trimmed this platform down to roughly six pounds with dimensions that stay remarkably close to a standard AR-15. You get the reach and thump of .308 Winchester in a rifle that swings, shoulders, and packs like a carbine half its class.
The 16.5 inch barrel is match-grade 416R stainless steel with a 1:8 twist and 6R rifling, threaded 5/8×24 and capped with a removable A2 flash hider, so swapping to a brake or suppressor mount is easy. The receiver set is machined from forged 7075-T6 aluminum with a hard-coat anodized black finish, and the direct impingement gas system keeps the parts count familiar and the weight down. Up top, the 15 inch handguard runs a full-length MIL-STD 1913 rail at 12 o'clock with M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 for lights, bipods, and hand stops wherever you want them.
POF kept the furniture simple on purpose. The A2 grip, mil-spec trigger, and mil-spec charging handle are all standard-pattern parts, which means every aftermarket upgrade you have been eyeing drops right in when the mood strikes. That said, there is nothing about this rifle that needs fixing before the first range trip. It ships with a 10-round Magpul PMAG and feeds from common AR-10 pattern magazines, so spares are cheap and everywhere.
Deer rifle, hog gun, truck rifle, or a do-everything .308 for the range, this one covers a lot of ground. Hunters will appreciate the light carry weight on long walks, and anyone stepping up from 5.56 will find the transition painless since the controls and feel are pure AR-15. It is a lot of American-made rifle for the money, backed by a company known for building ARs that run hard.
This one is direct impingement, which is part of how POF keeps the weight and cost down compared to their piston-driven rifles. DI systems use standard, widely available parts and are simple to maintain. It is the same proven operating system that has run in AR-pattern rifles for decades.
It feeds from standard AR-10/SR-25 pattern magazines, and it ships with a 10-round Magpul PMAG in the box. That pattern is the most common on the market, so PMAGs and similar mags in various capacities are easy to find and reasonably priced.
Very close. The rifle weighs around six pounds, and POF kept the receiver dimensions and controls as near to AR-15 spec as possible while still fitting an AR-10 size magwell for .308 rounds. If you are used to a 5.56 carbine, this will feel right at home in the hands.
Absolutely, and that is a big part of the appeal. The mil-spec trigger, A2 grip, and charging handle all use standard AR-pattern parts, so drop-in triggers and aftermarket furniture install without any gunsmithing. The rifle runs great as-is, but it is a solid foundation if you like to tinker.
