This version pairs the 1.625 inch vented rib barrel with a stainless steel frame and cylinder, so you get a bit more sight radius and velocity than the shorter barrel models without giving up much in the pocket. Chambered in .22 WMR, it runs all the popular .22 Magnum loads, including shotshell rounds, which makes it a favorite for ranchers and hikers dealing with snakes on the trail.
Most NAA minis are pretty plain by design. The Wasp gets some style points with its skeletonized hammer, black fluted cylinder accents, matching cylinder pin, and that vented rib topped with a bead front sight. The black pebbled rubber grips are the practical upgrade here. They fill the hand better than the standard wood bird's head panels and give you real traction when you thumb back that single action hammer. At roughly 6.5 ounces, you will forget it is there until you need it.
This is the definition of a deep concealment gun. The halfway notch cylinder is the feature worth knowing about: it lets the hammer rest safely between chambers, so you can carry all five rounds loaded without worrying about a blow to the hammer setting one off. Loading works the old school way, pull the cylinder pin, drop the cylinder out, load, and reassemble. It takes a little practice, but it is part of the charm of the platform.

If you want cheaper practice sessions, NAA offers a .22 LR conversion cylinder for this model, so you can plink with standard rimfire and load the Magnum cylinder when it counts. Not out of the box. This model ships with a .22 WMR cylinder only, and you should never fire .22 LR from a Magnum chamber since the smaller case can split and tie up the gun. NAA offers a dedicated .22 LR conversion cylinder for the Wasp if you want a cheaper option for practice sessions.
Yes, and that is one of the best features of the NAA design. The cylinder has halfway notches machined between the chambers where the hammer can rest securely, so it never sits on a live round. Carried this way, a bump or drop on the hammer will not cause a discharge.
It sure can. The Wasp runs all popular .22 WMR ammunition including rimfire shotshell loads, often sold as snake shot. That versatility is a big reason these mini-revolvers are so popular with ranchers, hikers, and anyone working around barns or brush.
Like all NAA minis, the Wasp loads by removing the cylinder from the frame. Put the hammer at half cock, pull the cylinder pin, drop the cylinder out, load or eject your rounds, then reassemble. It is slower than a swing-out cylinder, but this gun is built as a last-ditch backup, not a range workhorse.
