Chambered in .22 Magnum with a five-shot cylinder and a 1.63 inch barrel, the whole gun measures right around 5 inches long and weighs about 6.5 ounces. That's lighter than most pocket knives people carry every day.
This is a single action only revolver with an exposed hammer, so you cock it for every shot, just like the old cowboy guns. The fixed half-moon front sight keeps the profile snag-free, and the trigger breaks at a manageable pull that's easy to learn. One feature worth knowing about is NAA's safety notch cylinder. The hammer rests in a notch between chambers, which means you can carry all five rounds loaded without the hammer sitting over a live primer. It's a smart, time-tested design that NAA has built its reputation on. The .22 WMR chambering also gives you a real step up in energy over .22 LR out of a short barrel, and it runs fine with shotshell loads if snakes are part of your summer routine.

Just make sure to read the manual and practice setting the hammer in the notch correctly.
The Bootlegger is single action only, so you manually cock the exposed hammer before each shot. It takes a little practice to run smoothly, but the trigger pull is light and predictable once the hammer is back. Most owners find the manual of arms becomes second nature after a range session or two.
It's chambered for .22 WMR, also called .22 Magnum, and runs with standard loads as well as .22 Magnum shotshells, which makes it a handy snake gun. Note that NAA specifically advises against PMC ammunition in their mini-revolvers. It will not accept .22 LR unless you have a model with a dedicated conversion cylinder, which this one does not include.
