Description

The Bondstrike is Norma's top-shelf hunting projectile, and getting it as a loose component is a real treat for anyone who handloads for the 7mm family. At 165 grains in the .284" diameter, this bullet rides a 0.632 G1 ballistic coefficient, which is seriously slick numbers for a hunting bullet. Measuring roughly 1.456" long with a sharp boat tail and that signature blue polymer tip, it was designed from the start for long-range hunting rather than just punching paper, so you get both the flat trajectory and the terminal performance where it counts.

What Makes the Bondstrike Bullet Tick

The core is a precision-formed lead that's chemically bonded to the copper jacket. That bond is the whole point here. It keeps the jacket and core locked together through impact, which means high weight retention and controlled expansion even when the bullet runs into heavy muscle and bone. Up close where impact velocity is screaming, the bonded construction keeps it from blowing apart. Way out there where velocity has dropped off, the blue polymer tip gets driven back into the core to kick off reliable expansion. That combination of traits is tough to pull off in a single bullet, and it's why the Bondstrike earned a reputation as an all-range performer.

Loading the 7mm Bondstrike for Your Rifle

This diameter covers a huge slice of popular 7mm cartridges, from the 7mm Rem Mag to the 7mm PRC and plenty of classics in between. The .284" bullets tend to carry better ballistic coefficients and higher sectional density than comparable .308 projectiles, which is a big part of why the 7mm has stayed such a beloved all-around big game chambering. With load data available across a wide range of calibers, there's plenty of room to work up an accurate recipe tailored to your barrel. Keep in mind this is a component bullet, not loaded ammunition, so you'll be supplying your own brass, powder, and primers.

If you've been shooting factory Bondstrike and wanted to roll your own, this is the bullet that gets you there. It shoots a lot like a match bullet thanks to the tight manufacturing tolerances, but delivers hunting-grade terminal results on medium and large game.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Norma Bondstrike loaded ammunition or just the bullets?

This is a component bullet only, not loaded ammo. You get the projectiles to handload yourself, so you'll need to supply your own brass, powder, and primers. It's the same bullet Norma uses in their factory Bondstrike hunting loads, now offered loose for reloaders.

What cartridges can I load these 7mm Bondstrike bullets in?

The .284" diameter works across a wide lineup of 7mm cartridges, including the 7mm Rem Mag, 7mm PRC, and other popular 7mm chamberings. Published load data covers a large number of calibers, so there's room to work up a recipe for your specific rifle. Always start low and work up following current reloading data for your cartridge.

What game is the 165 grain Bondstrike good for?

The Bondstrike is built for medium to large game thanks to its bonded core and controlled expansion. The construction holds the jacket and lead together through impact for deep penetration and strong weight retention. It's a solid all-around choice for deer, elk, and similar big game at both close and extended ranges.

How does the polymer tip help the Bondstrike perform at distance?

The blue polymer tip serves two jobs. It sharpens the aerodynamic profile for a higher ballistic coefficient and flatter trajectory, and on impact it gets driven back into the lead core to initiate expansion. That's especially important at longer ranges where velocity has dropped and a standard bullet might not open up reliably.
