Description
NEMO Arms builds rifles in small numbers out of Kalispell, Montana, and the attention to detail shows the second you pick up an XO Steel. This is their Executive Order platform, a large-frame AR built on the .308 footprint but chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, which is exactly where that cartridge belongs. The heart of it is a 22 inch barrel machined in-house from a Bartlein blank with a 1:8 twist, rifle-cut and threaded, and Bartlein blanks are the same tubes you find under a lot of winning benchrest and PRS rifles. Stretch it out past 800 yards and the 6.5 Creedmoor just keeps doing its thing with far less wind drift and recoil than a comparable .30 caliber load.
What Sets the XO Steel Apart
Big-bore ARs have a reputation for beating you up, and NEMO went after that problem directly. Their patented recoil reduction carrier tames the impulse down to something closer to a 5.56 carbine, so you can actually spot your own impacts through the glass. A two-position adjustable gas block lets you flip between suppressed and unsuppressed settings without tools or guesswork, and the dual chamber muzzle brake keeps the rifle flat during rapid strings. The Geissele SD-E two-stage trigger is the kind of upgrade most people add later, and here it comes standard.
Living With the NEMO XO65CM-22B
The billet receiver set wears a tungsten Cerakote finish, and NEMO trimmed weight where it counts with a lightweight free-float M-LOK handguard and titanium takedown pins, bringing the whole rifle in around 9.9 pounds. Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the safety and a Radian charging handle, and the Magpul CTR stock and MIAD grip let you fit the rifle to your frame. A full-length Picatinny top rail gives you plenty of real estate for a scope and night vision or a clip-on. It feeds from a 20-round Gen3 PMAG, so spare mags are cheap and everywhere. For steel matches, open country hunts, or just owning the far berm at your club, this one earns its spot in the safe.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the NEMO XO65CM-22B chambered in .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor?
It is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. Some listings label it .308 because it is built on the large-frame .308 AR-10 platform, but the barrel, bolt, and magazine are all set up for 6.5 Creedmoor. That gives you AR-10 durability with the flatter trajectory and lighter recoil of the Creedmoor cartridge.
Can I run a suppressor on the NEMO XO Steel?
Yes, and it is one of the better hosts out there. The barrel is threaded and the gas block has dedicated suppressed and unsuppressed settings, so you can dial back gas flow and keep the rifle running clean and soft with a can attached. Just remove the factory dual chamber brake and mount your suppressor or its adapter.
How accurate is the XO Steel with the 22 inch Bartlein barrel?
Bartlein blanks are among the most respected in precision shooting, and NEMO machines each barrel in-house from those blanks. Combined with the Geissele SD-E two-stage trigger and the 1:8 twist stabilizing heavy match bullets, this rifle is built to hold tight groups well past what most gas guns manage. With quality match ammo it is fully capable of serious long range work.
What magazines does the NEMO XO Steel take?
It ships with one 20-round Magpul Gen3 PMAG and accepts standard SR-25/DPMS pattern magazines. That is the most common large-frame AR mag pattern, so spares are easy to find at just about any gun counter. Both 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 marked PMAGs of that pattern will feed it fine.
