Description

MasterPiece Arms built its name in the Precision Rifle Series, and the PMR is where that competition experience becomes attainable. This is a hand-built rifle from the same shop that produces some of the most decorated chassis systems in the sport, chambered here in 6mm GT with a 24 inch hand-lapped 416R stainless steel barrel finished in a clean polish. The muzzle is threaded and ships with a thread protector installed, so adding a brake or suppressor down the road is a five minute job.

Why the PMR Runs 6mm GT

The 6mm GT earned its spot on match rosters by fixing what frustrated competitors about other 6mm cartridges. It feeds reliably from standard AICS magazines without spacers or tuned feed lips, recoils gently enough to watch your own impacts, and treats barrels far kinder than hotter 6mm rounds. Pushing 105 to 110 grain match bullets in the 2,800 to 2,950 fps range, it holds its own in the wind at 1,000 yards while staying pleasant over a long practice session. In a rifle like the PMR, it makes a lot of sense.

Inside the MPA PMR Build

The V-bedded BA Hybrid chassis is machined from 6061 aluminum and wears a durable black Cerakote finish. You get a built-in inclinometer for leveling, a 20 MOA scope rail, a lower Picatinny rail for a bipod, and a buttstock with adjustable cheek riser and length of pull that locks solid with set screws. The MPA action runs a smooth 60 degree bolt throw, and MPA indicates each chamber to the bore using their zero runout chambering method. The TriggerTech Special breaks clean in the 1 to 3 pound range.

Setting Up Your PMR 6mm GT

At around 12 pounds bare, the PMR is lighter than MPA's PMR Pro line, which makes it a solid pick for tripod work, blind hunting at distance, or a first season in production division matches. MPA also offers a deep accessory catalog, from weight tuning kits to bag riders and night vision bridges, so the rifle can grow with you. Feed it good ammo and it will show you what you are capable of.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose the MPA PMR in 6mm GT over 6mm Creedmoor?

The 6mm GT was designed by competitive shooters specifically for precision rifle matches. It feeds smoothly from standard AICS magazines, recoils softly enough that you can spot your own hits, and burns less powder, which typically means noticeably longer barrel life than 6mm Creedmoor. You give up a little velocity, but for high round count shooting the trade is worth it for most people.

Does the PMR come with a muzzle brake?

No, this configuration ships with a thread protector on the muzzle instead of a brake. The barrel is threaded, so you can add an MPA brake, another aftermarket brake, or a suppressor mount whenever you're ready. With 6mm GT's mild recoil, plenty of owners run it bare for a while without issue.

What magazines does the MasterPiece Arms PMR use?

It runs standard AICS-pattern short action magazines and includes one 10-round mag from the factory. The 6mm GT case was purposely designed to feed from these magazines without spacers or modified feed lips, so spare mags from Magpul, MDT, and Accurate Mag are easy to source.

Is the PMR a good starting rifle for PRS style matches?

It's one of the better ways to show up match-ready without going full custom. You get MPA's chassis with a built-in inclinometer, a 20 MOA rail, an adjustable buttstock, and a TriggerTech Special trigger, all wrapped around a hand-lapped stainless barrel. It's also lighter than the PMR Pro line, so it doubles nicely as a long range hunting or tripod rifle.
