Mission First Tactical built the React Short Grip (RSG) for folks who want a vertical foregrip without the bulk. It rides low on your Picatinny rail and gives your support hand a solid anchor point, letting you pull the rifle back into your shoulder for tighter muzzle control. The texturing is aggressive enough to keep your hand locked in when things get wet or you're running gloves, but it won't chew up bare hands during a long range day.
Two things make the RSG stand out from the crowd of polymer grips. First is the hollow storage compartment inside the body, sealed with a watertight plug and fitted with a customizable sled so you can stash CR123 batteries, an Allen wrench, or other small odds and ends without any rattle. Second is the mounting design. The RSG clamps down over the rail with a single cross bolt you can run with a standard flathead, so you don't have to strip off rail covers or accessories to slide it on. A dab of thread locker on the screw and it stays put.
The profile sits in a sweet spot, not so stubby that your hand feels cramped and not so long that it snags. Shooters who run a thumb-break or C-clamp support hand technique tend to like how naturally it falls into place. The flat, non-slip bottom surface is a nice touch too, since it lets the grip double as a monopod-style rest when you're shooting off a barricade or prone off a bag.
At right around 2 ounces, this thing barely registers on your build. It's made in the USA from tough polymer and carries the same simple, does-the-job reputation MFT is known for. If you want a straightforward vertical grip with a little bonus storage and a hassle-free install, the React Short is an easy call.
The RSG mounts to any standard 1913 Picatinny rail, which covers AR-15s, M4-style carbines, and most rail systems out there. It clamps over the rail with a single cross bolt, so you get a tight, no-slop fit. As long as your handguard has Picatinny slots, you're good to go.
It uses a single cross bolt that you can tighten with a standard flathead screwdriver, and the grip clamps down over the rail rather than sliding on from the end. That means you don't have to remove rail covers or other accessories to install it. Putting a little thread locker on the screw is smart to keep it from backing out over time.
The hollow body has a watertight plugged compartment with a customizable sled inside. Owners commonly use it for spare CR123 batteries, an Allen wrench, or other small tools and parts. The sled keeps everything from rattling around while you carry.
The texturing strikes a good balance. It's bold enough to keep a firm hold with wet or gloved hands, but it won't tear up your palm during a long day at the range. That's one of the details users tend to appreciate most about this grip.
